- Bay DayA woman called left a message saying this is about serious allegations made against me. She had my first name but wrong last name. This is a scam. The number that appeared on the caller ID was a local phone number that matched my phone number, area code.
- Caller: They left no name
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Good luck!Just like everyone else. Have fun with that file because my guess is your "company" bought bad paper and you think I'm going to pay on a 20+ yr old debt. Oh and I guess I missed the end of the business day again. LOL
- Caller: Not sure

- RRGot a call from a blocked phone number and answered it. A woman who I could barely hear asked for me by my first name, which nobody ever does. She said that a company had filed a lawsuit against me and asked if I would be available between 2 and 5 pm for someone to bring the papers to me. She stated that the company has tried many times to contact me. I asked what the suit was regarding and she gave me this number to call back, along with a case number.
There is no reason for a company to file a lawsuit against me, so I knew it had to be a scam.- Call type: Scam suspicion
- AGSame as above; they left a voice mail. I will not be returning the call.
Just file a complain with your State's Attorney General's Office. That lady needs to get a real job....
If someone is trying to serve you papers, they need to file it at the court first. These types of calls are just a threat to get you to pay first.- Caller: Aliver/Oliver Wright and Associates

- KathyMSame experience as described by most ppl above. Voicemail message from a woman claiming to have complaints filed against me and if I didn't contact her by the end of the day, legal proceedings would ensue. Call was from 816 area code which made me immediately suspicious as it was different from the call back number. It's some kind of scare tactic or scam.

- Meredith| 1 replyThis is most likely a collection agency that has bought an old debt. Usually these are debts that are not legal to collect, but they end up scamming people into paying them, or they even sue on court and people do t know the correct questions to ask. I previously worked for a legit agency, that closed after 35 years. The recording itself is also a violation of FDCPA regulations. Legal proceedings can not be stated on any answering machine or voice mail, as there is no expectations of privacy unless a person has told them it is private. Threats of legal proceedings can also be construed as a violation. State of New York seems to have a great deal of these illegal collection chop shops, often closed down, then opened as a different company name, but same owners. If calls persist, they can be fined for each illegal call. If anyone thinks they may owe the money, immediately ask for proof of debt, over the phone, then also send a letter asking for the debt proof. When mailing send by certified mail or some type of signature required letter, so you have proof it was received. In the letter also tell them to cease and desist all collection efforts until 30 days after you have received the proof of debt. Keep a copy of the letter and receipt once they sign for it. There are many legal aspects that electronic communication does not help. If they contact you prior to the time frame given, call an attorney. There are many that can be found online with Avvo.com

- Meredith replies to MeredithApologize for the few typos, I can't correct them.
- Random PersonReceived this call today. Became very angry that "allegations" were apparently made against me through an unusually unprofessional and unintelligible voicemail message. This is an aspect of the world we live in I suppose. A joke.
