Left a VM said she was from "Jackson, Edwards and Associates" called from a (916) number. Threats of being served at work and home. Did mention my address correctly. BLOCKED!

I was called being threatened to garnish my paycheck say they were from PBC and they will serve papers at my home.

Jackson Edwards called and threatened to serve me court papers and that I was going to be sued for 2 thousand plus dollars and that I could settle with them on the phone for 8 hundred otherwise they were taking me to court.    The one that threatened me was Steve Moore.      A real piece of work this guy.  Scam artist and total scum bag.

Call me saying that I owe 2018 dollars threaten to garnish my pay an come to my home to serve me, I told them that o was on disability can I work out a payment plan they said no have me really upset I have heart troubles

Why in the world would you want to pay crooks money you don't owe?  If you are on disability then they cannot legally garnish anything.

The fake process server/location finder extortion SCAM usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

Some woman called me saying she was from a county court and i was about to be getting served papers for a debt. She left a number which was Jackson, Edwards and associates. They were closed last night when i tried to call back but only a guy with a voicemail answered. Number 833-669-1570. Thank you for posting this. I can call him back today and start questioning him!!

Jackson, Edwards and Associates and Steve Moore are scam artists, the number 833-669-1570 is their scam number. I started asking him questions about his business address and his state bar number, the questions got him flustered so he hung up on me then he blocked my call so i couldn’t call back!! I did my homework before calling him, i called the county court where my papers were getting served from and there was no case against me. Please don’t fall prey to him.

I just got a from a lady name Lindsay Mayor stating she’s from San Diego County processing unit, looking for my husband. Saying they’re gonna send a dispatched to the house if he doesn’t reply back. I gave him the number and he spoke to Steve Moore, when he tried to call him back, Steve Moore didn’t picked up his phone calls. My husband said Steve Moore even knew his last four social.

My question is, is he really legit? Or a scam? Please help me!

Is this a scam cuz I did the same thing with me and it got my address wrong in my last name wrong

Scam caller including  a lady named Jenny Nichols and a man Steve Moore. Calling for my sister. Got the address correct. However. They were rude.

I was contacted saying that they have an summons for me in regards to an outstanding debt. They said they would summon me at home and at work and had the last 4 of my social. Was told to call Jackson Edwards & Associates. The call was answered by Steve Moore, he said I had a debt for breaking a cell phone contract in 2015 (I have been with my current cell company for over 15 years). When I asked for documentation of this broken contract he said he did not have access to it and he just bought my case from Smart Pay Lease (I have never done business with this company). I said wouldn't that be information that you should have access to? He got an attitude and I said there is no reason to have an attitude if this is legitimate. I said once I have the documentation then we can talk. He said he did not have it and hung up on me. I tried to call back and it went to voicemail.

Be vigilant. Couldn’t even tell me the name of their company, the company’s address. I just got a last name from the lady who answered. They called my phone trying to “collect a debt” from someone I know but a Sean Adams guy disclosed too much via voicemail. Y’all got to step your scamming game up. That was extremely terrible.

Called my number to reach my nephew saying they heard from jackson edwards and assoc law firm and they were filing a wage garnishment and the docs were placed on a 24 hr hold so that he could contact them directly to resolve the issue. No one answered when he called back. I've blocked the number.

I received a call in the morning by a lady and then later on from a guy name Steve Moore !!!! So they are scammers ?
