Received VM from this number stating I owed taxes on account number (my phone number) and to call them back to get it sorted out.

Received an extensive voicemail with my phone number linked to back taxes owed.
The message was left from somebody named Jessica with US tax consultant.
I do not owe any back taxes have never owed any back taxes so I knew that this was immediately a scam or fraud. Something not valid.
The phone number that called was 715-420-5879.
The message stated to call 833-716-0888 to resolve the matter.

Call actually came from a San Francisco number (628) 263-5769, voicemail stated it was Jessica from US Tax Consultants, that she was calling to resolve the account (my phone number) linked to back taxes owed and to call (833) 716-0888 to resolve the issue today. As other posters have stated, I’ve never owed back taxes so it was clearly a red flag for me.

I received same voicemail by same lady jessica..

Received a call on Sept. 19th from Jessica (called from #802-396-1332) following up on a notice that was sent for preapproved personal funding to resolve qualifying balances for an account linked to my work cell number.  Call back number was 833-716-0888

Got the call on Sept 22.  Just like stated above, the call came from a Texas number but this was the call back number. Voicemail stated it was Jessica from US Tax Consultants, that she was calling to resolve the account (my phone number) linked to back taxes owed and to call (833) 716-0888 to resolve the issue today. Never owed back taxes. It's a fraud call.

I received VM today from this # 833 716 O888 , , saying I owed back taxes ..

I got a call from 833-716-0888 on my voicemail and when I called it back I couldn't hear or understand the guy so I told him that and he hung up on me. I called the number back and someone answered and I told him that I couldn't hear him so he hung up.  I called back several times and got a recording that said the number was not in service .

I received the same yesterday and ignored it. Key thing to remember is if you are being audited or owe money to the IRS, IRS will always mail a letter with a deadline to respond. I have never received a call initially from the IRS on back taxes owed or miss-filings via phone. I also clued into Jessica's message and she doesn't name you, just your phone number.  So it is random calling that she or a robocaller is targeting a phone list hoping someone will bite.

I received the same call and message about back taxes linked to my phone number. But the funny thing is I use a payroll service that handles everything

Here's the rub, I do not owe any back taxes and I don't file the taxes and don't use my phone number, my wife does and uses her phone number so quite clearly a phishing / scam call. If you do think something may be up, call the IRS direct or check on irs.gov don't be a victim!

You don't owe the IRS and this is NOT the IRS.  Everyone gets the same message.  These are scammers who are phishing for your bank info and your SSN.  While there are legitimate tax mediation companies, they do not cold call you.  These people are hoping they'll get someone who actually has tax issues to call back.  Then they trick them into paying up front fees or getting personal information.  Most likely part of the "fresh start" scam.  Read here:

Left a VM saying it was US Tax Consultants and that is was "critical" that I call back as soon as possible concerning taxes not paid with an account linked to my phone number, Xxx-xxx-xxxx. My name was not mentioned, only phone #. Said they could help with this to prevent any further action and to not pay anything else towards this account until speaking to them. I don't owe anything on any taxes. My accountant confirms this.. One # that called had a Inland Empire, Ca area code, 961-263-6605 and said to call US Tax consultants ASAP. The "person" calling said her name was "Amelia".   The other phone number that called, 515-837-7786 is listed as being in Iowa. The "person" that called was the same "Amelia".The message was the same, saying it was critical to call ASAP  to avoid further penalties, at 833-716-0888. Different numbers from different locations, same voice, same name-"Amelia". I am not calling back. I don't owe anything to anyone. BEWARE!

Got that same message this morning. Funny thing is I’m disabled and have been for 19yrs and I haven’t had to file a tax return since. Plus the phone number they stated wouldn’t be the number connected to any back taxes owed as my number is recently new. So this call, I know it’s a scam. I’m also on the DO NOT CALL registry.

I received the same type of phone call from Nancy at US tax conultants but the calls came from Fontanelle, IA and Knoxville, IA.  One did not leave a voicemail, the second one did.  She said it was Friday, October 6, which is not a valid date. It quoted my phone number and the message was exactly the same wording.

This is 100%+ a scam and I hope we all know that the IRS sends out letters and they definitely do NOT call people.
