- LesCalled five or six times, robot left voicemails stating that my SSN has been involved in a federal fraud.
- RusselRecieved three voicemails in a row... robotic message with beginning cut off so what i heard was "...filed on your social security number involved in fraudulent activity..." etc. Certainly isn't legitimate and perhaps is trying to be clever-that maybe I'll just think the rest of the voicemail got cut off instead of deliberately made to seem that way... Obvious attempt to try to get your social and personal info. If fraudulent activity was truly found, the call would likely come from a real person, they will always identify themselves, the company or government agency they are with, will know your name and that is almost there only specific information they will say in a voicemail. Banks and credit cards may send an automated message if suspicious activity is flagged on your account, but you obviously know where you bank... same for any identity protection or monitoring through a service you pay for. You should recognize it... Otherwise, the first thought should be "why is this person watching my personal accounts to begin with, since random automated calls are NOT dispatched by some good Samaritan safeguarding your Social Security info for free! Nor did they create a shifty sounding robotic voicemail just for you... Autodialers of this shoddy nature serve one purpose: make as many calls as possible with the same bait message to increase the odds somebody calls back and falls for it... Sadly, people do- often the elderly... innocent people on fixed incomes are scammed and robbed! These people should be charged! Spread awareness to beware these types of calls!
