Statute of limitations apply do not agree on anything. The burden of proof is on them. The last payment you made starts the date and it depends on the state. Ranges from 3 to 15 years!

This number called my spouses phone saying they needed me to call but used my maiden name and I needed to call 833 781 6508 on a complaint with a complaint number, that I had 2 hrs to call back, so I called the same number back and they told me I had 1 HR to call the number. (I lost an hour calling back seconds later) I called the number and they were from Lucas Tillman Solutions and that I have 1,100 outstanding balance to verizon from 2003. She said verizon has sent me notices in the mail to collect this debt. What is scary is she had my DOB and the last 4 of my social. We googled their name and didn't find a website. The last known addresses that she gave me were the military addresses from where were stationed in the last 3 yrs one of which was wrong by a digit. We have since bought a house and I am employed at a facility that did a full credit history on me. None of this has shown on my credit. They don't have my number just my spouses and I have been married, yet they are using my maiden name. The biggest kicker is I have never used verizon until now...yup I have verizon now and they haven't asked me for a dime other than what's on my bill, which I pay. She said they were going to garnish 25% of my pay and 25% of my bank account if I did not pay. She put me on hold to see what they could do for me. I hung up and she called my spouses phone back immediately.  I was asking her questions about past bills sent to me, how I have never seen them and she had no answers. This is a scam.

This company Lucas and Tillman called my mother asking to speak to a Kathy Calhoon who is deceased, about money owed on a debt by Kathy, and my mother stated there was no one by that name lived here as her last name is Baker. Yes they had the wrong number,  they called my mother only because I married Kathy Calhoon's ex husband. They are trying to collect on a debt that yes belongs to Kathy Calhoon but unfortunately she has passed and thinks her ex husband will pay for it...um no. This was a divided debt in court by both parties and she failed to pay her part and they trying to get money out of us.....um no will not happen.

First i got a call from a "Scam Likely" number in SC, then when i answered they gave me a claim number and a phone number to call, I called the number and the girl on the other end had my DOB, SS and an address in which i dont live at, she tried to tell me that i owed a past due debt on a Speigel account from 2000 which was $4 thousand and something. She then started telling me that they were going to garnish 25% of my wages and put a lien on any property and bank accounts that i had. I asked her for her name and was looking them up as i was talking to her and nothing. I told her "Good luck in trying to get my money" and hung up on her.

This is phone# 844-201-8861 they called from.

My mother in law recieved a call from these people and started panicking. The call was for my husband and he hasn't lived at his mother's address in over 22 years. They claim there was an outstanding phone bill from Verizon during 1993-2002 and the last payment was in 2002. My husband put me on three way with them while he was at work and I immediately thought it was a scam. The woman was very convincing and for a little while she had me fooled until I asked her about the statue of limitations. She said that this is California and the laws are different. Still skeptical I started to google the company name Lucas and Tillman solutions and nothing comes up. I asked her to email us something in writing and the thing that she emailed really looked bogus. It didn't say lucus and tilman solutions but it said LTS with no info and looked cheap. This is a complete scam. How could you collect on a phone bill 17 years later and we have never seen anything on the credit report. In NY the statue of limitations is 6 years. In California it is 4 yrs. Mind you we called Verizon and they even said it was probably a scam because they have no record of my husband owing anything. I will be reporting them to the Attorney General's Office.

Well that was extremely easy to tell that it was a lie.  SS cannot be garnished unless it is for Taxes, Student Loans, and certain other court ordered garnishments such as Child Support.

They called me today. Said I owed $1765.00 for us cellular! I’m fighting mad! They threatened me with bank and pay roll garnishment. I told em to take me to court and I’ll be there!  There address is 318 De Obipo St, San Juan Capistrano , CA 92675. Going to send a disputed letter for my safety. You have 30 days from contact in most cases.

No, that is not what the law reads.  You have 30 from receipt of the dunning letter which must now be sent out and postmarked within 5 days of your conversation.  You will never get that dunning letter and I doubt the validation letter will be honored.  You should also send it certified, return receipt.  I also doubt that is actually a real address let alone their real address.

Yes, and you know that sometimes you have to hunt a little bit for the proper information.  For instance instead of "Lucas and Tillman", perhaps the name is actually Luxford & Truman Services whose address is 31878 Del Obispo St #118-381, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675.  That company has an F rating with the BBB because they have never responded to any complaints or reviews.  They always make a mistake somewhere along the line and then we find them here.  It is allegedly a Sole Proprietorship which means that they should be registered in the city/county with a business license.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Also file a complaint with the California AG.
