This number is for a collection agency called "Bennett and Whithers".  I haven't been able to find anything specific about this company, which I am trying to do, to check the validity of their claims.  On their website they have several "testimonials" from customers the last couple years, but their website has only been registered since December 2020.  Seems very shady.

Nothing to check.  The law states what they must do.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

The testimonials came stock with the web template.  One of them is dated 2019.  The address is in a residential neighbor with an HOA.  I see nothing on the website that indicates that they are debt collectors.  They are making it sound like they are accountants.

Yeah, that is the one that I went to.  The Whois info states that the site went up 12/29/20 and is set to expire 12/29/21.  They used a privacy service to conceal who they are and where they are located.  A Google search shows that address is located in a residential neighborhood.  There is a HOA listed in the upper left hand corner of the view.  There is no company registered under the name Bennett and Whithers anywhere in the US.  There is no company under the name Bennett and Withers registered in the US either.

Thanks.  I thought it seemed a little sketchy.  They are definitely debt collectors.  They called me and left a case number.  I talked to a representative and they claimed they were going to mail me more info.  We shall see.

They called and left a phone number...different from the one on the caller ID...call it and no one answers. I have no outstanding debts so who knows what crap they are up to.

Same they call and leave voicemails but you try to call back and no answer. I do not owe any debt so this is a scam.

Same. They call and leave voicemails. Three within 1/2 hour. Tried calling back and rings and rings and rings.

Automated voice Continues to call saying it’s urgent and leaves voicemails, it doesn’t say what it’s about. I owe no debts very annoying!!

Spoke with a representative and they stated that I have a debt from Check and Go from 2014. Told them that it was not my account as I have not utilized them ever, and that I needed them to mail me information in regards to the account. Lady said she would notate it on the account. Took forever for the lady to answer the phone when I pressed to speak with a representative.

I received a call from  this agency  stating was in collections from an outfit I have heard of and I told them to send this so called collection in writing.When I finished I had dead the dude hung on me?

I told them to send the collection notice in writing and they hung and I never of the company they stated I was in  collections too.Trying to make a quick bck by scaring people losers

they call me with same ref# over and over. i called and the lady did not speak good English and wanted me to verify my SS # and i told her no. i asked what this was regarding and she would not tell me unless I told her my SS#. i told her no again. she hung up on me. 10 min later i got another voice mail from them.

Same msg said it’s a debt collection and I must call before the end of the day to avoid further actions.  I do not owe anyone anything.  They call every 15 minutes, it’s so annoying. The Nbr shows up as a local but they leave 833-913-3266. Definitely suspicious

They’ve called 5 times today! Same vm each time. Comes up SCAM LIKELY (Miami Beach, FL number). Going to call them on my way home. I’m sure they’ll cuss me out and hang up on me when I keep pushing for the LEGAL process to be followed. Oh...reported them too:)
