Do they give a case number?

They are calling me gave me a case number and said I had to settle or go to court.

Sounds like a debt collection/process server extortion scam, but since neither one of you has posted any details it would be hard to figure out what is going on.

I got a a voice mail and said I had to call 844 204 2433 to talk about my case. It is about a loan that I took out back in 2012 that I don't remember doing. And then she said that when the payment was due my bank account was closed and no money could be taken out. She gave a case number CR219278 she the said to seadal out of court I would have to pay 100 dollar's every 2 weeks intell 1400 dollars was paid off.

Well, I called that one right.  No, to "settle the case", they have to follow the law which starts out by saying:

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Received a voice mail stating I had to call this number in order to dismiss legal motions which were to be filed with the county court office. SCAM!! First off, I live in LA, we have parishes, not counties. Secondly, he said his name was David Smith. Third, I was given the phone number and a case number CR216305 via voicemail. Fourth, I have caller ID on my phone and the number showed "Private Caller".  I use to work in "collections" and this is not the way these situations are handled.

I got that same call. So it is a scam?

Got a call from the same number. They are calling everyone in my family. How do I get them to stop

Head arbitrator David Smith from call meditation services calling me about a payday loan. Said I took a payday loan from midland Tx back in December 2011, and that I owe $3,269.90 but it will be going up to $5600 or $6200 due to court cost and court fees  they warned me that they will be doing wage garnishments  for the amount that is owed. I have never taken a Payday loan out I asked why wasn't it on  my credit report when I checked it. I have also checked my bank and they have  warned me that this is a possible scam. They talked about having the sheriffs office in my local hometown come and serve me  A subpoena .I don't  know how they want to hold me  accountable for this when I never even took out the loan.

The guy left me a voice mail with a case number, said that I committed fraud against a financial institution and something else.  Is this a scam?  They just want money.
