- AJI received a call today from the same number, after having called my parents, and they gave me two hours to pay $1,934.72. I was about to pay, but I've been working hard on my credit for a couple years and didn't want to be the victim of fraud (again), so I asked for a company name and physical address. The representative, who said his name was Anthony Salcido, gave me: Winton Litigation Services, 10808 Foothill Boulevard, #160, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730. Phone number 310-943-4350.
This was also the number from which I received all calls following the first one.
After promising several times that I would call back and pay the debt after he sent me an email with a letter, I Googled the name of the company and found nothing. I Googled the address and made a few calls and found that this is the address of Postal Perfect. It's apparently a service that will provide a physical address for businesses that don't have an actual physical address. I've used one of those myself for my editing company in case someone wanted to send or receive any physical copies, and to use on my website. I found it odd that this place doesn't even have a website.
While still searching for some answers, my mom called because she was concerned about the situation, but before I even got off the phone with her, Anthony called me back. I explained that since they called my parents, I had to talk to them, but I was still working on locating the company physically. He asked if I received the email, and I said yes, and that it looked like something I could have created myself, so I needed to be sure. I told him I wanted to call companies that I located near them just to verify that they exist, specifically Anna's Linens and LA Fitness that appear on Google Maps to be neighboring locations. As soon as I could validate them, I would call back and pay. I didn't tell him that I found the address he gave me as Postal Perfect.
Up until this point, Anthony had been relatively nice although a little pushy, but at this point, he became just rude and said,"It sounds like you're trying to come up with reasons to not pay. These just sound like excuses. How is locating the office going to help you?" I told him it would be a big help just knowing I'm paying the right company, because in the process of fixing my credit, I have paid thousands to a company that did not exist, and I no longer want to be an easy target. He repeated what he'd already said as if my reason wasn't good enough.
At that point, I told him I would call him back again, and actually had to hang up on him because he was contesting my reasons for not paying, and I called my spouse and discussed the situation. Neither of us trust anything about this matter, but I didn't get a chance to call Anthony because he called me back AGAIN. I told him there was no way for me to be sure he was calling from a real company, so I'll just wait for the summons and pay them after court if I need to. I wasn't just going to send my money to someone who couldn't prove they were legitimate. - Shirley| 9 repliesI received a call today from some one saying they were from attorney's office and that an officer was coming to pick me up. . . - falsely claim that they are attorneys
- indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t
2. Debt collectors are prohibited from saying that:
- legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.
- you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt
3. Debt collectors may not:
- send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn’t; or
- use a false company name
4. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
- try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt – or your state law – allows the charge;- Call type: Debt collector

- Homemaker replies to ShirleyYou cannot be arrested for a debt. It's a civil matter, not a criminal matter. Go to ftc.gov and read the FDCPA and learn your rights and learn what a debt collector can and cannot do.

- Alfalfa replies to cinThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

When you called back and ask for proof from that company did they issue. You the documents. Via email with details.? That same man Jonathan miles called me too and it had police officer dispatch background noises and he stated he was from the Clark county issuance dept. help! Stressed out . I didn't receive any notice from a debt collector. Or any calls. - CWG40 replies to ShirleyTypical debt scammer. There are no attorneys. There is no case against you . Police officers are not involved in the enforcement of civil claims. If he has a valid debt then he must send you a debt validation letter. This must be sent by US mail. E-mail no good. Of course he won't do this, so you know it's a scam.
This person is engaging in serious violations of the rules that govern debt collectors.
Report him:
See: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
He calls again, tell him you know this is a scam and that you are reporting him to the police for extortion.
This person is doing this to you because he feels you are vulnerable in some sense or another. These debt collectors violate all the rules and they look for women, single mothers and the elderly.
Also, if you are located near Rancho Cucumonga CA, go to that police station and tell them what happened: http://www.cityofrc.us/cityhall/police/
