I received a cal from (844) 213-5666 saying they need to serve me with court papers, for debt I owed for writing a bad check. He said if I didn't pay that I was going to go to jail, so as stupid as it was I paid him. Come to find out it's a scam, and it was $450.00. These people are scum, and now my kids won't have a very good Christmas! Very sad that there are people out there like that!

Total scam.  No legitimate process server notifies you in advance they are gong to serve you.  Ignore them. Do not return any calls and block the number.

If you paid by CC or debit card go back the bank and request teh transaction be reversed for fraud.  If you paid by Green dot money pak then your money is lost.   See if you can find the name and address of the company you paid.    Never give financial information over the phone or e-mail to someone you do not personally know.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated
If they are bothering you, report them:
    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

Just wondering how much your "company" is paying you to post this crap.  Someone suggested you may be earning $2.00 per post.  Is that correct?  What a sad statement about you and the a$$wipes for whom you work.  Please take the time to read about yourself and your employer here:
    http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/08/15 ... ector.html?_r=0

Once you've come to the realization that the "people" you work for are anything but legitimate, go back to school.  You probably quit high school, got a GED, tried community college and failed that evening class.  Take heart, you can still make it if you apply yourself and find a job that doesn't ask you to debase yourself by spewing nonsense on this web site.  Good luck, Sunshine.

You know you shills are soooo obvious - and boring.  Same old "pay your bills" cr@p, even if the people have said they don't owe anything.  "..when everything they do is legal on real debts.." Yeah, well, again, pal, per federal law, the debt collector has to prove it.  In writing.  Threatening phone calls don't count. Have a nice day!

Go ahead and file a frivolous lawsuit.  I'll be more than happy to file my Answer and Notice of Appearance.  Then you had better answer my interrogatories, discovery motions and subpoenas.  I will petition the court for a Motion to Compel if you do not answer any of those.  As an acquaintance of mine once said, "Go ahead, make my day."

Rubbish. One of your colleagues (Williams, Scott and Associates), is facing serious prison time for the same antics you are pulling. Don't push your luck.

BTW--This is not a discussion as to whether or not we should "pay our bills"--

This is about consumers' rights when it comes to the collection of debts.

    Happy Thanksgiving.
