Calling family members to say that they have a parcel for me...very cryptic

Woman called Wife's phone and my phone with call id blocked gave this number and file number to call.  Wife called this number and was told she was speaking to the county courthouse in Lexington, SC (844 is not a Lexington number), she was then told she was sent a packet in the mail and that she was being served tomorrow.  After my wife played her game and tripped her up sh stated she was calling looking for her mother actually after explaining how what she just did is against the law and oh by the way the county court house closes at 1700 the woman hung up on her.  I called and I was told I was speaking to Lesley Johnston from RC & Associates, I asked multiple times where she was calling from and she explained she could not until I gave her the file number.  Do not call these people, it is tax season now and scammers will do anything to get your money.

Received a voice mail from this number. The number was "unknow". They stated a docket number. I called, without giving my name, and asked what is the name of your business. The girl stated RC & Associates. Then I asked what is your line of business. The girl stated "Litigation". I have no legal issues. Then she responded harshly, asking for a docket number. She did not want to provide any more info. I hung up. Don't Call These Crooks Back.

Received a call from a restricted number and got an "urgent" voicemail referencing a docket number and a call back number.  I simply called and told them I wasn't the person they were looking for  (honestly). Said they would correct the number and thanked me for letting them know

Received calls from this company stating they needed to verify that we would be home between certain hours for process servers to deliver papers, after further questioning and telling them we would be home (never tell them when you won't) they said they were calling for RC & Associates at 844-213-7144.  Then they hung up on me.

They called with "Unknown" Caller ID. Left a message stating that a file came across their "clerk's office" and mentioned a case number. They said I needed to call them to verify that it was me or they would proceed to file documents. I think it is either a collection agency trying to scare people or a scam because I worked at an attorney's office for 10 years and a court will not call you and leave messages like that if a case is truly being filed against you.

This is a real company I did really get served and had to appear in court I honestly thought it was a scam as well but not a at!

If that is true, you should be able to give us the information at the top of the summons, since it is now "public information".

Give us the court name and location,  the name of the judge, the plaintiff's attorney's name and Bar number, and the name of the company or person that is suing you, the date you are supposed to appear, and possibly a docket number.

Can you do that, to prove your statement, or did I ask for too much information?

Well, then, just give us the name and address of the court, and the plaintiff's name.  You do not have to tell us your name.  That should not be difficult at all.  Otherwise, we will have strong evidence you were NOT served, and are fibbing to us, and are probably a shill for the phone number under discussion.

I betcha you can't give us the requested information.

Do not bother to return and argue these points, unless you can provide the data I requested.

number calls home and relatives home all the time saying blah blah blah.call them back get the run around from chicks with attitude.Getting super annoyed.Can not locate any REAL business with the name they have given.Pretty sure this number is a scam.Be aware.

They call family, friends, and neighbors to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I called that number.  First refused to give me any specifics.  Then said they were a"litigation office".  Right.  I then I told her I was looking for Reliant Capital. She said that  "Reliant Capital was one of their offices."   Pretty sure it's the following group:

Yes, it's a real company all right.  But they are not following the federal rules for debt collection.  I suspect the California AG or the FTC will start coming down hard against your group.  Sooner, rather than later.

Bull [***]! My wife just got a call and she works at Oklahoma County Courthouse and the case number was not a real case number. Damn Scammers!!!!!
