Called and said there was a judgement against me and that they have 'legal papers' for me, to deliver at an address I haven't lived at in 20 years...wouldn't give me any info on the 'debt' they supposedly have.

They   call my work and they said I got a court case

Said company name was Sullivan, Parsons, & Associates. Claimed a civil suit had been filed by Providian naming me as the defendant for an outstanding debt. I have no outstanding debts so I asked for a written validation notice before proceeding (http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors). He immediately hung up on me.

my husband got a call from this number at work and on his phone. We called and talked to a Cindy Garcia and she said he owed money for an account in collections. It was an account we had paid off, but she knew everything about my husband and all the info was accurate. Without even verifying it was his she gave us his correct social. I told her we had paid it off and she said they needed a letter showing it was paid, so we faxed Over the letter and called back to verify they got it. Someone else answered and said ms. Garcia wasn't there but they had received the letter and he would no longer be contacted about this issue.  I asked his why our info was sent there and who sent it and he said he couldn't give me client info, that it was private. We contacted our attorney and they feel it's a scam.

These idiots called me from 800-913-4520 spouting the same nonsense.  I just laughed at the fool and hung up. Thanks for your report.

Number using 888-726-8201 seemed very professional and had all of my information..after looking up on the internet I realized it is a scam to get money from a very old debt

Got a call from a Michael Lee at 1888-738-9558 leaving  a message on my cell and contacting my place of employment asking to speak to my supervisor he left a case number. I call and spok with a guy named  John  Benson who said he is with Sullivan Parson and Associates who stated that I had  a judgement against me however he didnt say what for ..he was demanding I verify my address before he would tell me anything. I cuzz his ass out and hung up the phone.

Same people did this to me. Bs.

I received a call from Shaun Benson, claiming to be from Sullivan Parsons and Associates.  Said he was calling due to a notice to appear in court. He had my information such as my previous address and social security number. He said he was form a law firm that handles different types of cases and wanted to what I wanted to do about an outstanding notice for an old credit card.  I didn't provide him any information and when I tried to call back the next day, I kept getting the run around on where Shuan Benson was.  The person on the phone would not provided me their address, then after calling them numerous times they began to harass me by calling and hanging up or making rude comments. At this point I realized the are not a legitimate company.  Do not provide them with any information these people are either a debit collection agency or they are trying to scam people into providing them your personal information or account numbers. The only numbers I have for them is 877-554-8247 and 714-793-6505

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Called trying to collect money from a closed debt. Matthew Wilson was very demanding. Called the co back asked to speak with him again and was sent to his voicemail. Co is supposed to be in California.

They called my job yesterday and claimed that I was going to be served papers at my place of employment. My boss took a message and I called them back. They claimed that I had a cc balance of nearly $1200, and that they had sent me several letters to try and settle this account balance. I told them there was a mistake and they sent me a letter via email.

Emails mean NOTHING!!  They, as well as phone calls & faxes, are NOT recognized as official.  Please read BigA'S post several posts below yours for excellent information.  Short answer - nothing IN WRITING that is MAILED (post office) equals no official notification.

Called my work and told my boss I was getting served papers if I didn't call a number they left in 2 hours. Called and talked to Matthew Wilson who said I had credit card debt and owed finance charges in excess of 3,000.00.  If I didn't settle immediately, they were going to serve papers on me at work.  Also told me I had a civil judgment against me and the Federal Trade Commission was investigating me.  They knew all of my personal information.  I've never had a credit card with the company they claimed.  They continue to call my place of employment and harass or threaten me.

They continue to call my family, friends and work for years now. They told the President of a company I worked at to please ask me to pay them so he’d stop getting called. They’ve told my elderly parents there is a warrant out on me and that I would be going to jail if I didn’t pay. They’ve called me repeatedly at work and told me they were sending a processor to serve me and had the home office address of the large corporation I work for. Funny, though they said they were calling Human Resources, I’ve never been contacted by the HR dept about it. Also said this was the last step before Wage Garnishment litigation within 24 hours, yet apparently it takes many years because it still hasn’t happened.  They’ve told my siblings and friends to please pass along their 800 number for me to call them about my outstanding debt. I keep blocking but they keep calling from different numbers. The frightening thing is they’ve done enough research to have pertinent details like my SSN, etc. IS THERE NO WAY TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS?

Have you made it abundantly clear that you will not pay them one red cent?  Have you told them they need to follow the law?  Have you reported them to the proper federal and state agencies?  Have you gotten an address from them?  Did they send you anything in writing?

My husband received a call for me on his phone. Sullivan and Associates claimed I was about to be sued for check fraud under my name and social security number. The message they left was pre-recorded and they said my name in a robot voice. They also claimed that they been trying to reach me for a long time; which was a lie. I never received anything from anyone; especially Sullivan and Associates. This is a scam. Who in they right mind would call the wrong number looking for someone else and give out information like that. They called from a scam likely number and left another number for me to call. 844-221-4336. Going to report them to the FTC.
