- Lukerdog| 1 replyGot the same message for the IRS fraud as the 5 others rec'd this a.m. (four of which were 888 numbers.) HOWEVER i got so tired of blocking the numbers i finally picked up. When i answered, it was the same recording they leave as a v-mail. So i called the number back. The woman answered the phone as "D**** from the IRS." i asked if she was an IRS agent. She hesitated, then answered yes. Uncharacteristically, i replied "Equine Excrement" and told her to quit calling my number.
What's weird is i've not rec'd a call in over 2.5 hrs. This morning i was getting 2 calls per hour. We'll see what tomorrow morning brings.
Peace be with you (unless you are one of the scamsters:-)....Lukerdog- Caller: Fraudulent I.R.S. scam

- SickofthesepeopleTalked to my local police as these "IRS" people are harrassing me 5-6 times a day. Police told me to record them, ask them specific questions they gave me, bring down the tape and dates and times they called. Did it a few minutes ago but didn't get too far. As soon as I told them they were being recorded at the request of the local police, they hung up. We shall see if they continue to call.

- Reply to scammerThe IRS reminds people that they can know pretty easily when a supposed IRS caller is a fake. Here are five things the scammers often do but the IRS will not do. Any one of these five things is a tell-tale sign of a scam. The IRS will never:
Call to demand immediate payment, nor will we call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill..
Demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe.
Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card.
Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
Threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.- Caller: IRS scam
