- julie| 3 repliesLaw offices. Arbitration/mediation. Someone is trying to sue for whatever reason.
- Caller: law offices
- Gunnar replies to julie| 1 replyNope. It's a scammer calling who's going to threaten you with lawsuits, arrests & whatever else the weasel can dream up. When told to supply proof via the good old US Postal Service the caller will have a fit.
Research & know your rights under the FDCPA. It's easy. Just Google it.
Be Safe. Be Aware.

Gunnar is correct, and you should google FDCPA if the "offense" is a supposed loan.
If it is that matter (or a different one), read this:

If i did not call by end of day today they would file and i would have a process server show up at work or home to serve me with documents. I called back and lady said Mr. Murphy will call me back within an hour. Never did so i googled the number and the office name. I called 4 different attorneys with the same whom were located in the Washington Dc area ( as the lady i spoke to told me thats where they were located) i had them listen to the vm and they had no idea who it was. They them selves said it was a scam. I called back let the lady know the info i came up with and she got upset would talk over me and ended up hanging up. Called back a few more times and it went to their VM!!!
so be Careful PPL this is a scam!!!- Caller: Gerald Murphy/ Michelle Taylor

"This is Darlene Wager (previous call from Michelle Taylor) Personal Locator. I am calling on behalf of the State. This is the second phone call. You did not return our phone call. You are labeled non-compliant for failure to reply to our Federal Mediation Office of Gerald Murphy. Failure to return our call today will result in federal prosecution and process server to contact at your home or office against you if we don't hear from you by end of business today."
Be aware -- all federal and state courts send letters via US mail. It is illegal to threaten someone like this message with potential prosecution for an unknown debt. Once you get on these scum bags list -- they sell it and it crops up every other year. DO NOT BE INTIMIATED! THEY ARE SCUM -- SLIME --
This is the 6th time I 've gone through this with these scum bags. Here is what I do with them:
1) File a complaint with your state Attorney General office
2) File a complaint with the FCC - Federal Communication Commission
3) They must provide the actual documentation in writing and send it via US mail to that which they have on file. (my address is no available)
4) This phone number has been turned over to the FBI and state agency --

- Michael replies to GunnarJust received a phone call from 844-245-7142 from a person called Denise who left a voice mail saying criminal and civil documents would be served to me. They also said I had to speak to Gerald Murphy who was conveniently in a meeting when I called back. I tried to ask questions and even asked to whom I was speaking with and the lady refused to give me her name and just kept talking over me. She was very rude and forceful and kept saying this is a federal matter and basically told me to shut up and listen. When I continued to ask questions she became even more rude and irritated and said when I am ready to listen she will return and she put me on hold as if I was going to wait. I kept saying contact my lawyer then I just hung up. I immediately went to my computer to look up this number and found that 844-245-7142 has been used quite a bit in the attempt to scam people has I just found out. I knew it had to be a scam because I haven't had any trouble in my life. How do I report these people I know you said FDCPA but can I get a number? These people also called my Grandma 2 months ago saying the same thing but I of course didn't think much of it because they never called me until today. We have just recently lost my Grandpa of old age and my Dad died tragically months later. So I don't know if that has anything to do with these people calling or what but I would like to call my local news and report them. These people are SCUM of the worst kind.
- Michael replies to flemenco@yahoo.comFlemenco- Thanks for your post I received almost the exact same call 30 minutes age. They left very threatening voice mails and when I called back they would not answer any of my questions. The lady on the phone would not give her name and was very rude and forceful. She became very irritated when I continued to ask questions. Oh wait that is them calling back same 844-245-7142 number....I just picked up the phone and said hello. The man on the phone said this is Gerald Murphy returning your call. I said you know you are in direct violation of the FDCPA don't you? Silence. I told him I was currently recording this phone call and said no one from his office ever called me. I said that isn't true because also have that conversation recorded and a rude voice mail to go with it. He became angry and said I don't care record all you want and told ME to get a life. I told him I think he needs to get a life and he hung up on me and crawled back under his rock. He was quivering in fear no lie. What scum. Make sure you record your calls. I kept asking for his real name and location which really irritated him. He hung up quick.
- Michael replies to flemenco@yahoo.comFlemenco- These people are scum. I wrote down everything you said to do. How do I get phone numbers to the right people to file a complaint with. I never had anything like this happen to me. I'm glad I came to this forum and read all these post because when I put the shoe on the other foot and told Him he was directly in violation of the FDCPA and I was recording his phone calls he became very defensive. I want these people in jail. I want this scum in jail. I just lost a lot of family members this year including my father tragically months ago which is when they first called my Grandma his mom. I didn't think much of it then because I had no troubles criminally or civil and I had just gone through so much. My grandma had just lost her husband of 67 years and first born son within 6 months and me both my Grandpas' and my father. These people got very personal with me so I bet they get very personal with everyone. Let us ALL help to put this scum away.
- Michael replies to flemenco@yahoo.comFlemenco- I have a feeling I will not be receiving any phone calls from this company again though after our last conversation. I still want to put them away and I want them exposed. I should call my local news and get them involved.

- BigA replies to Lisa| 2 repliesPhone numbers, names addresses, and pictures of your house are all over the internet. Search your name and see what happens. They list who your friends are who you are related, everything about you.
Have your daughter read this
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
