My work got a call telling us they were from Georgia Power and going to cut off our power in 1/2 an hour for unpaid bills. They would not confirm the amount owing, just told me we had to call CS. Having received a similar call at my other job about a year ago, I was unfazed. But I worry about the people who may fall for it. Last time when we called to ask what the hell was going on, they told us to courier a cheque immediately to some address across town.

You need to report this number and call to the REAL Georgia Power:

Criminals have been known to call or visit customers, claim that the customer's account is past due and that their electricity will be disconnected if they do not provide payment immediately. Often, the customer is asked to purchase a pre-paid debit card and provide the account number on the card. With access to the account number, the criminals use the money on the pre-paid card for their own benefit. Both residential and commercial customers have been victimized by this unethical tactic. Criminals, operating in Georgia and other parts of the Southeast, have frequently targeted senior citizens or those speaking English as a second language.

Georgia Power does not call or visit customers to ask for personal or financial information like a credit card, debit card, banking information, or social security number over the phone.

I just got a call from a guy claiming to be from Georgia Power saying my electric was about to be turned off if I did not go to an electronic payment center and make a cash payment. It was a scam, he gave me a number that sounds like Georgia power. 844-258-4076 x1526 Frank Costello. If they call you don't do it. Please share this.

I got a call from Regina she said that chase bank is after me for some bad checks and they are going to sue me if I don't pay and they were going to have a police man serve me with papers and to not have dogs out and don't have any weapons but I called the bank and they said that they are not suing and that they don't have a 3rd party company doing it

They said they were the IRS and were threatening to take action.

I just got a message from this number claiming to be the IRS.  Sounds like a scam to me.  Watch out.

Message from IRS about a previous issue.  Threatened me with incarceration.  Total scam.  They told me to call the same number that I was being called from.

Claimed they were IRS and I owed them money from last year. After I repeated asked for a mailing of this they hung up on me.
