In spite of the fact that this was an auto-dialed call, there was actually a real person on the other end. Sometimes, it takes longer for the other person to pick up and start talking to you once you've answered. It's all based on whether there's a rep/solicitor/etc available at the moment. This was a political call about Illinois Governor Rauner and something about his issues with a child care and I think some medical program. I didn't let her get any further before telling her I wasn't interested, and she was very polite about stopping and saying, "Okay, thank you." I can't stand political calls or any other calls not having to do with a business with which I have a direct relationship. If you're on the Do Not Call list, I'm afraid you're out of luck unless you have call-blocking on your phone line, as DoNotCall.gov expressly states that political calls are EXEMPT from the Do Not Call list. In my case, all 30 of my call-block spots are filled, so I can't block anymore. That's going to be the main focus of my next phone purchase - to have a much larger call-blocking capacity.
