This number is a scam trying to say they are the irs

SCAM CALL!!! Left voicemail stating his name was Jason Knight from the IRS. According to Mr. Knight fraud was committed on my taxes and I need to call right away...PLEASE DO NOT CALL. REPORT & INFORM OTHERS

Claimed to be Irs. When I asked to speak to english speaking irs agent he called me a [***].

It's says it John Night from the IRS saying there is fraud on my federal taxes.  It's a scam. Do not call back.

Said there was fraud on my taxes.

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

I just received a call from a Johnathan Knight saying that I had been running from the government and that I need to take care of the matter. I TOLD HIM THAT I WORKED FOR THE IRS AND IF HE DOESNT STOP CALLING I WAS GOING TO REPORT HIM. HE HUNG UP THE PHONE.

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

Johnathon Knight again!
Same story for IRS and investigation is on going with FBI involved......................

Just got a call from someone with a heavy accent (sounded Middle Eastern) claiming to be Jonathon Knight accusing me of committing fraud on my taxes.  I picked up the phone while he was leaving the message but he just kept talking over so I think it was a recording. Piece of ****

DO not Trust This number instantly I knew it was a scam To begin with

same here I told him the same and he hung up on me. then he had the nerve to call my house back several hours later.

Calling claiming to be from the IRS- Officer Johnathan Kinght. Says his badge # is 46719.
When I threatened to report him he hung up but then called my house back a few hours later.
Called from Phone # 844-259-1249. I instantly knew this was a scam. please find this person and give the punishment deserved for trying to defraud all these people.

They keep calling me saying they are the IRS officer John Knight badge number 46719 scam!!!!

The scammer call us back to back today and used a second phone number. 844-313-3253.

I received a truncated robo-call from this number indicating that it was the IRS and that while doing an audit they found a fraud and that it "must be rectified immediately".  Really--during tax season they're doing audits?  Ha!  Since the message was truncated I didn't hear the name of the caller or the number I needed to call back.  The ANI was 844-259-1249

My wife picked up the phone without checking the caller-id and it was IRS officer John Knight, with an accent so heavy he was barely understandable. She hung up on him. Called back a half hour later, this time from 617-412-3804. Left a message saying we had cheated on our taxes and needed to call him back immediately to take care of the matter. He's such a poor scammer that he didn't even leave a callback number.  

I got the same message today!  Phew!  It freaked  me out!

Caller said he was from the Federal Investigation Department of the IRS and that after an audit they found fraud on my tax return and that I was intentionally concealing information.  No return number.  Very heavy middle eastern or Indian accent, think he said his name was Officer Jonathan Knight, Badge number 46719.

My mother received a voice message from this number, (844) 259-1249, claiming to be from IRS officer Jonathan Knight, badge number 46719.  The caller had a thick foreign accent.  The the message was truncated at the beginning, but what I could make of it is the following transcript:

"(unintelligible) ... IRS.  My badge number is 46719.  The matter at the hand [sic] is extremely time sensitive and urgent.  And after audit we found that there was a fraud and misconduct on your tax which you are hiding from the federal government.  So this needs to be rectified immediately.  So, do return the call as soon as you receive the message.  Again, this is Jonathan Knight from the IRS."
