https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-603-513-7899 - CWG40 replies to IbelieveitsascamTotal scam. Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it. In any event crimes are handled by law enforcement, debt collectors have no influence on law enforcement. Civil debt is just that: civil debt. These people are trying to scare money out of you. Ignore them and block their calls.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening criminal prosecution to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act)
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. - CWG40 replies to DebiThis "Victoria Grey" persona also calls from something called Metro Mediation and Premier Processing with the same sort of scam. Ignore and block their calls. Absolute scammer.
- Jamaul williams| 1 replyGot a call from Tim today while at work. Told me I was going to be arrested on 2 warrants. However I don't not know where this debt comes from. Looked up the number they are calling from and realized it was SCAM!!!!! Please don't feed into these people. They really had me thinking. It should be illegal to scare/scam ppl like this...
- Caller: Unknown
- Call type: Debt collector
- Alfalfa replies to Jamaul williamsIt is illegal. These are criminals attempting to extort money for nonexistent debts. The next time they call let them know you are recording them and intend to have them prosecuted for attempted extortion and wire fraud.
- George replies to AnonymI just called the Los Angeles County Fistrict Attourneys Office, which is where these people supposedly had these warrants issued from, they have no record of my name and said this happens all the time with fraudulent callers. Just ignore and report them. Problem is, they have some system where these phone numbers get generated from all over and can't pin point any one number.
- w8tn2bmeSo what do we do about these SOBs?! They keep threatening me (for over a year) that they area going to serve me at my work or home, but need my address. Supposedly regarding a 2 part felony complaint?? Now they are calling me at work. They are rude.
