My son got a cell call saying he was being served with a summons, when he said he was out of town, the person said you will have an arrest warrant put out on you because you are out of state. My son asked what the summons was for, the person claimed he was not supposed to open it but gave him a number associated with the summons. It was this number. The person on the other end claimed he owed a payday loan from years ago, and proceeded to threaten him with driver's license revocation and an arrest warrant unless he paid money right then. The person said if paid a reduced amount right then, it would be over.

My son said he got a payday loan but was pretty sure he had paid it off. I saw on the internet that there are a lot of payday loan collection scams, and the ones that are legit often use tactics listed above, which are illegal. We are still investigating.
