Scammer  - called, left message on machine.  Saying he was an Officer,  calling on behalf of CRA, then threatened that if "you don't call this number right away" he wouldn't be able to do anything and he'll deal with my lawyer, or some such thing.   No names ever used,  just "you" must call back.  It's the same sort of scam that was going around a while ago.

Just got the same phone call. Again an "Officer" calling on behalf of the CRA. And it was of the utmost importance that I call them back. Now if you listen carefully a bit more, you can hear plenty of voices and background noise. He gave a name. It will be fictitious. It is a scam. Period. When you have a problem with any government agency, first of all, they communicate the problem via snail mail. They don't contact people by phone. They most certainly don't use a "police" or "RCMP" officer to contact anyone. IF you end up having to call someone, it's to a number which can be verified online as being to that specific government department. Revenue Canada (CRA) Stats Canada (Statistics Canada) So if you get a phone number like this one, DO NOT call them back. Simply report it to the proper authorities.
