- Shane| 1 replyCalled my mobile phone. A women named Stacey stated she will arrived at my job bet 4-6pm. If she shows up I will need my supervisor or HR Rep to sign legal documents. She did not state what company she was calling from. Left a voicemail message on the phone calling from an unknown phone number. Before she arrives at my work or home, call 844-293-1444 with a six digit claim # to the company. She had my home address and stated I will need to show a government issue ID and have a witness to sign the legal documents once she arrives. Last statement: You have been notified.
Called the company, a random male answered the phone like he was at home. Did not state a company's name.
I asked to speak with Stacey and gave him the claim #. He said hold on then the phone disconnected. SCAM- Caller: No company name
- TAF| 1 replyI received the exact same call today!! They blew up my phone with 4 calls back to back marked as private or unavailable. Left a message stating the same thing. They even call my husbands cell too the exact same way stating the exact same things. I am so glad that I have Googled the # because it sounded really fishy especially the way the man left me the message, Jonathan Patty. " If we have to come to your job make sure to have your HR, Payroll Supervisor, or Payroll specialist ready to sign off on documents" What!!

- LBI received a call from an unknown number today and the female caller named Stacy said that she was going to show up at my job and she had two of my old addresses which she she said she would be stopping by. She didn't leave a company name just a call back number 8442931844 and a six digit case number. Needless to say I was pissed because who likes to wake up to threatening voicemails? Secondly I work for a police department and I dont want that crap showing up at my job. Then I called back and talked to some guy that answered and I told him that Stacy would be arrested if she showed up at my job. I'm gonna get the company name and info and file a suit against them.
- Caller: Unknown Company- Stacy
- LB replies to TAFI got the same call today, the message was very threatening. I work for a police department and Stacey was threatening me to "be prepared" for her arrival today. I was pissed I called the number back and now I'm still on hold for a supervisor after five minutes a guy came on the line. I asked for the company name and he said "EDS" and I asked was that an acronym or What does EDS stand for? He said "its just EDS" I told him that I needed Stacey's last name, contact information, and the company name so that I could request a vistor pass for her. And then he told me that "she's just a contact agent at a separate company". Then I asked "Well why did she give me this number as a call back number to reach her?". He didn't have an answer. I then told him well I need the company information for security purposes at my job and the phone call I received was very threatening, I will be filing a claim against your company for harassment, for threatening to show up at my job, for having old addresses and not being able to tell me what account I have with your company. I have now been on hold for almost ten minutes, Because the "supervisor" that I was talking to wasn't actually a supervisor he was an "office manager" conveniently after I responded to their bs threats with what will likely happen if "Stacey" shows up to my job site that is restricted to unauthorized personnel. And he said that he'd transfer me to a "supervisor" about twelve minutes ago now and I'm still on hold.
- J&SReceived the same threatening message, contacted the number. They would only identify as EDS; refused to give any info out. They wanted us to verify our info before they would tell us about these "mysterious documents". I gave them the reference number...they refused to give any info until they had verified the info from the person they wanted to make contact with. I had the police on my other phone listening in...they stated they appeared to be bogus & to not give them any info. Police also said to contact Federal authorities since they were calling from another state.
They proceeded to get testy; said they would not say anything until the person they were attempting to contact would verify their info... and we wouldn't give any info out until they let us know what they meant by "local agents to process paperwork". So, at an empass. I hung up. Told them no one would be allowed on premises without a valid ID with contact info...& they refused to give anything out. Idiots- Caller: 844-293-1844

- Concerned replies to ShaneDid anyone ever show up with paperwork during any of these instances?
- Concerned| 1 replyI had the same threat they were going to show up to my business and serve papers. I called and spoke with a John Porter.
Has anyone actually had someone show up at home or work with papers?- Caller: Eds.
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to ConcernedNo, no one shows up, this is simply an attempt to scare you into paying them. Process servers do not call ahead and warn you. People would know to hide from them. Process servers serve papers and nothing else. They get paid to deliver papers, not help strangers out by telling them they could avoid service if they called another number. It is extremely simple to call the local courthouse and ask them if there is a case with your name on it.
This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number. Please not that process servers do not ever call ahead. That way you can’t dodge them.
