This person calls and calls and calls.....always wanting to talk about a prescription......knows a lot about our insurance where we refill, etc.  This is scary....he demands we let them arrange for our refills with our pharmacy....knows birthdates....we tell him we don't want anything other than what we are doing now and he insists he will do this for us.

If he "calls and calls and calls" have you considered blocking the number? Or at the very least not answering?

Kept calling me about update from United healthcare. I finally returned call. It was Indian accent which made me suspicious. Wanted my phone number. From there he knew my name and date of birth but wAnted me to verify date of birth, I said you should know it. He asked again for verification and I told him. He hung up.

Just one more subcontractor for UHC and their prescription arm (OptumRx) that calls me on a daily basis, sometimes several times a day. I block one number... they call from a different one. I've lost track of how many times I've reported them to the FTC, so now I'm filing a complaint with the WA State Office of the Insurance Commissioner because UHC/OPTUM and the programs they push via these subcontractors have abused the "existing relationship" exception under the Do Not Call registry. UHC and everything connected to them are worse than any spammer or scammer I've ever experienced... combined. I'm now switching the Medicare Advantage Plan that I've had with UHC to another insurer based SOLELY on this issue. They've made life hell for the last two years. So yeah... even if you have an insurance plan with UHC, these calls still absolutely qualify as spam (at the very least). I encourage everyone to report these calls from UHC/OPTUM and their subsidiaries/subcontractors for unwanted spam. Because that's what it is.

Don't worry, you will get calls when you are with the new insurer also.

Its optumRX . When you sign up with United healthcare its in your agreement . The pages of fine print some do not read and scroll through and hit OK!  But then again, I see no way to opt out of it. You would have to call United healthcare about that. Also, they cover a total of six different insurance companies. If you’re looking to switch, make sure you check out their list they contract for. Are used Optem once and when the doctor would try a new medication just to see how it works. Optem would send back and get approval and then fill it for three months supply. And then, of course I’m stuck with the big co-pay.

True. Once you're eligible for Medicare... Good Lord ... telemarketing, spam, AND scams are just part of your life now. (Though some orgs are slightly less awful than others.) Whatever you do... DON'T shop online for insurance plans (auto or health) or at the very least... don't EVER enter your email, phone number or address into an online form for insurance info.
I'm able to screen most of the calls from UHC and its subsidiaries with the stock call screening function on my phone, but that can end up being a full-time job since they call from an infinite supply of different phone numbers. Mostly, I'm just pissed that UHC and all its contractors have violated my repeated "request" (a polite term for it) to never call me again. I filed a formal complaint with the Insurance Commissioner in WA state. It won't stop the calls (or not for long, anyway), but if I can inflict some financial & regulatory pain on UHC & company for their massive spam campaign, I can live with that ;)

They call from a WIDE variety of phone numbers. Many of them are "calling *on behalf of* UHC, not UHC itself. Such as the "House Calls" program (which is now "At Home") and other subcontractors. And let's not forget OptumRx — the prescription drug arm of UHC. I can't block *every* number since we have serious medical stuff going on in this household (cancer & cardiology) and frequently get calls from doctors & specialists & med supply companies we're not familiar with already. My list of blocked numbers connected to UHC is already arm's length... and it's still not enough.

Well, then, have you done what BigA suggested & sent them a certified letter requesting to opt out of all these calls? He even provided the address.

Called 2 times wanted to ‘help get prescriptions on time”. Had info on my mom’s prescriptions and what pharmacy had been refilling them. Heavy Indian accent both times.  Hung up on me when I said my mom’s assisted living staff manager her prescriptions.

Just answered the same call, told the lady i just filled the scripts she was talking about, she wasted no time adding my pharmacy on the line, trying to do the same thing the pharmacist told her i just filled those.  It's not like my mind has declined to the point that i need someone to call in my refills for me.  Won't answer again.

They just called me and said they were calling from United healthcare but very heavy accent. They knew my name and the prescription my mom is waiting for, d.o.b. and wanted me to say the year, then say her first and last name. I didn't feel comfortable as the name didn't show up on my phone. I called back and the guy that answered said, "hello, uh hello" when I asked who it was then he said thank you for calling back United prescription line. Idk just came off scammish to me. Plus the phone was echoing in my ear the first time so I said no ty I don't need your help.
