Left vm regarding a file number of someone "looking for a recommendation".  Never heard of this person.  Caller never identifies their company or what kind of recommendation is being seeked by this so called person.  Believe this to be a total scam of some sort.

I never answer calls from anyone if I don't know the number, so I let this go to voicemail and then my ex husband calls to tell me that this same number called for me saying that he was listed as a contact for me... I have tried to call back and now I can't get ahold of anyone. I have not left a voicemail but it seems a little ridiculous for this number to be reaching out to my ex to contact me, especially if this is a scam.

My sister was contacted by this same number saying that she was listed as a person of contact for me and that if they did not hear from her , they would make a decision about me for themselves!! What the hell!!? Thankfully she was smart enough not to give any info and contacted me immediately!! We live on seperate ends of the country, with different last names so how would they think or know she's my sister? It's a complete SCAM that makes me very nervous!! I hope they're reading this because they're complete [***]!!

Scam. Received a call with no name given, no company name given, just a "file number" and that I have 24 hours to call number back before they make a decision on me and that this voicemail serves as proof of the time.

Same as above. Message was for someone I've never heard of.
No legit company calls anyone, leaves a message and doesn't say what company they're with abd the natire of their business. How many fools actually fall for this kind of crap?

They did the same thing to me. Has anyone ever heard any more from them past the initial voicemail?

I got the same message today...call from an unknown person representing an unknown company saying they were under contract to receive my issued correspondence....that they needed my signature..if I or my representative does not call them back within 24 hours they will make a decision on my behalf with or without my cooperation!!! SCAMMERS !!!

*SCAM ALERT*  Same as the others. Claims to have papers to deliver.  OK, so DELIVER THEM!  Oh, that's right, you don't really have my address and you really don't have any papers to deliver.  And the poor woman that called could BARELY get through her little pack of lies "speech" because she CAN'T READ!  LOL.  SCAM. SCAM. SCAM.  Make it sound like they are a process server.  What process server EVER CALLS YOU IN ADVANCE?  LOL.  SCAM. SCAM. SCAM.

If you call that number the lady who answers won't give you the name of the company; she just says she's the switchboard operator for 27 different companies. Asked for the debt collection company.  Then she claimed she needed a "file number in order to connect me to the proper office.

Of course she knew exactly what information I wanted but she's not giving to me.  No idea who these people are.

Simply ignore and block their calls.

Caller ID says PRIVATE NUMBER. Left voicemail saying they have a document package I need to sign for that had been filed against me. No company name. Says they will deliver  this packet of documents tomorrow between 9am and 1pm. They left the 844 number to call back. Blocking call and wont be answering my door. If they want me they will have to mail their dicuments to me. Scam I'm sure after reading these comments.

Husband received a call from someone saying they needed to drop off some legal documents for me (using what they believed was my maiden name but spelt wrong), and tried to verify our address using a completely wrong address that was similar to a previous address. My husband tried getting them to tell him what company he was working with and the guy couldn't name the company, said he was a third party that was representing the "company" but didn't know the name of the said company.

I received a call from this number (702-852-1713) that traces back to NEXTIVA, INC (a voice over internet service provider). They left a message for me wanting to make sure my ex-husband (I have remarried and have a different last name and they used my new last name in the message) would be home tomorrow between the hours of ? and ? because they had legal documents they were coming to serve to him. They left this number (844-369-3962) to call back to verify if he was going to be home then. My husband called them and asked why they would be calling my number to find out if my ex-husband would be home then? They said they were given this number as a good contact number for me by the county. He said it is a good contact number for her but why would you call her about documents needing to be served to her ex-husband that she does not live with or have any contact with? They just said they would remove the number and they would not give him any information who they were.

I got a call from a "Private Number" today and got a message from an unknown person (male) who didn't even name the company he represents. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Received a call with caller ID blocked. The voicemail they left stated I must call back 8443693962 within 24 hrs. Left a case number. I called the number and the company name there referenced is ARL Group. I am not sure if this is legit but, went on to say if I did not make arrangements for an old debt legal action would be taken. The person who in fact called was not from the 8443693962 but, someone else. They did not identify themselves in voicemail

They keep calling and asking my daughter for her Social Security number.

Received a voice message that I have an important document to sign with a reference number provided.  Called back and provided the reference number.  This is a fake debt collector.  Started yelling and cursing at me regarding a credit card bill I supposively need to pay.  I do not even have the credit card they are claiming I have,  Report to the FTC and FBI.

Claim they are debt collectors.  If they are, they would have multiple FDCPS violations - asking for Social Security number, refusing to provide name and address, harassing people and calling them deadbeats, calling family members multiple times, refusing to verify details of the supposive debt, not providing documentation of the bent within 5 days after first communication, etc. etc.

Yes, FDCPA violations. Reported them to the FBI.
