Lady said she was from State Farm, and said that I was the guarantor on my "father's" account.  Last name was supposedly Whitt or Witte, and that my sister's name was Jennifer.  I don't have any sisters...  And my maiden and married names are definitely not Whitt, or even anything close.  She said the claim was for back in June, and that she had had to call my husband to get my phone number from him.  When I told her I wanted to talk to my husband and verify, she gave me no information to reach her with, and never gave me a claim number.  I called the number back, and the message you had to listen to is one of a State Farm claims center, but the lady I spoke to had no info that would have led them to call me for someone's claim.  The number is also an Unknown/unavailable number when searched through White Pages.  When I looked it up on State Farm's official website, this number was not listed anywhere.  Seems very suspicious, so I did turn it in to the National Insurance Fraud hotline.

This was a legitimate call from State Farm on a claim I'd submitted some receipts for.

1-844-458-4300 called me twice on March 21, 2016....at 7:43 am and 8:51 am.   I do have a claim pending with state farm.  This appears to me to be a legitimate call from State Farm insurance.

If this is legit I don't know why they called me.  I don't have State Farm so as far as I'm concerned it's a junk call.  If they are legit why block caller ID

This is an actual State Farms Claim phone number. I deal with them on a daily basis settling invoices. If you receive a call from them and you did not file a claim ask them for proof a claim was submitted. There could be fraudulent claims being filed and people are scamming them. They need to know this information to file complaints with the Attorney General and local authorities. They're normal practices are to make follow up calls when a claim is filed to make sure that you actually filed a claim and to verify the information.

When they place outgoing calls they randomly have numbers that when they hit 9 for the outside line it is not the same number. They are not blocking their number, most of the time it is up to the phone company to have the names appear when it's caller ID.

Sixteen calls on this thread and I count 11 or about 70% of them shill-types.  Basically trying to tell anyone who'll listen,  how "legit" these calls are.  Which is strange, most people who post here complain about being scammed.  They don't come here to tell everyone how legitimate the call is.

All of which tells me that this number and the people behind it are engaged in some sort of fishing campaign, if not worse.

I'd block and ignore any calls received from this number.

If you have an insurance claim, call the number on the form or insurance card or policy or  the official correspondence you've received.  Don't answer cold callers who call and start asking questions about  any personal financial affairs.

Your insurance agent should have all the information needed to settle a claim and the opposing party's insurance company should only deal with your agent.
