This phone number was found on a scam popup, from a domain that claims to provide loans, and is registered in India. SCAM SCAM SCAM.

    Here are the details :

Got a full-screen popunder telling me to call this number. Popup pretended to mimic a Blue Screen typical of Microsoft Windows.
It had a dialog box over it that contained this information :

    === quote begin :

    0x000000CE DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS

WINDOWS HEALTH IS CRITICAL. DO NOT RESTART

BSOD : Error 333 Registry Failure of operating system. Host: BLUE SCREEN ERROR 0x000000CE

System is Auto-Blocked to connect any network.

Please visit www.microsoft.com or Call Microsoft Support Team on +1-844-458-8227 (Toll Free)  for Security Upgrade.

    === quote end

Clicking the OK box resulted in a reload of the dialog box, with a checkbox saying
"Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs"

and the dialog box disappeared for a few seconds, then reappeared.
Closing it again closed the dialog box and then quickly clicking the upper right X to close the entire window
resulted in the gray dialog box that said
"This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave - data you have entered may not be saved."
and confirming that closed the window and resulted in another popup that resulted in a 404 error page
Closing that window stopped it all for good.

=== I am running Firefox on Linux Mint so the Windows error box is totally phony and shows whoever programmed it was to dumb to try to detect the OS and browser and present a different "warning"

=== I have no idea how this would appear on a Windows machine or an Apple machine.

"System is Auto-Blocked to connect any network." did not stop me from accessing 800notes.

    Whew.

Oh, what was the URL that appeared in the popunder window ?

    http:// applynowcreditloan (dot) com/allyouneedtoknowaboutdailyhealthandcare/

Took this domain about 15 seconds to respond :
    http://www.urlvoid.com/scan/applynowcreditloan.com/
The domain name was created only 2 months ago, which is not very positive in terms of reliability because it is too new to be able to make a judgment. Be cautious if you plan to buy something from there.

    http://www.urlvoid.com/ip/184.171.252.10/
    IP ADDRESS: 184.171.252.10
We have found in our database of already analyzed websites that there are 17 websites hosted in the same web server with IP address 184.171.252.10 and IP hostname ivory.dnsnetservice.com. Remember that it is not good to have too many websites located in the same web server because if a website gets infected by malware, it can easily affect the online reputation of the IP address and also of all the other websites.

    Website Title     ApplyNowCreditLoan.com®

The home page has a logo and link to McAfee Secure website
    https://www.mcafeesecure.com/verify?host=www.creditloan.com
That says the site is secure.
    NOT ANYMORE IT ISN'T

The "domaintools" website is not providing me with much information, except for this

    So I go to http://www.whois.com/whois/applynowcreditloan.com

===== The scammers operating in India are getting bold, creating entire websites to steal the personal information of US citizens who are desperate for money, then calling them later demanding loans be repaid.

Just got this exact scam and lock-up.  Been getting hit with this virus for past 9 days.  Have talk to someone at another number but I could not understand them.  Seemed to be Indian.  Too heavy of accent, wouldn't transfer me (said the results from another person would be the same), too many foreign voices in the background making it hard to hear.

I just got a scam pop-up asking me to call this number and that my computer was infected with a virus. The popup said to call Microsoft 844-458-8227 to trouble shoot my computer. When I did, someone with a thick Indian accent answered right away. He told me to hit the windows icon on my keyboard and r then type in msconfig and then another page opened up which looked like a virus help download. He told me to download the program which I did and then told me to open the remote so that he could check my computer for the virus. At this point I got suspicious so I did not hit the execute bottom to give him access to my computer. Beware this guy is a scammer.

Same thing happened to me today..got suspicious when they opened a desk top file.  Said I was uncomfortable and lost it on him.  Did not give out any personal info, but  not sure what was accessed. They said they needed 45 minutes to fix my problem.  I said no and said I was shutting down the computer they told me I would damage it I said I didn't care.  I was advised some one would call me back.  No calls have come in rebooted computer no issues that I can see, but will be calling my bank to be on the safe side.

Got a popup on my Xbox one of all things saying that I was infected with a virus and that my browsing the internet was not safe so I called the number (1-844-458-8227) and an Indian guy picked up and said for $130 I could have the problem fixed. I lied and said I didn't have the money right now cuz I felt this was a scam and thank god cuz apparently I was right. He said he could fix it today and get paid Friday when I get paid...windows ain't about to do that. Plus if it is infected I'll take it to a technician here in town.
