- LS replies to LSThey just called again and said if you are not "John Smith", hang up and disregard this message. Looks like they are calling anyone with a similar last name.
- J-Dawn| 1 replyHave called 3 times since Monday and never leave a voicemail. I'm on the Do Not Call registry and have no outstanding debts.
- MidNYteStorm replies to J-DawnDebt telemaggoters aren't covered under the DNCR. Nonetheless I would ignore and block the call (if you can).
- Michacaller said they were working on a claim
- LDayChicago| 1 replyReceiving the same call. Lady says its a debt from 2012. Wrong!! No record of any loans. She told me the original group is something called Global Group Holdings (Money Mutual, Cash America, or something like that). Some kind of way they have my info, but I have no oustanding debt. They demanded like $605. It's a scam, and scary enough they have my personal information! Very frustrated...they refuse to stop calling.

- WolfmanJack replies to LDayChicagoThis is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number
If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS. Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):
http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/How-Do-You-Rep ... aud-Activity%3F
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

When I began speaking with the lady she was very evasive after I mentioned the debt validation. I like many of you have never had a payday loan in my life, I've never even made enough to get one. Again, like many of you it was during 2012 and she knew where I worked at during that time period. Never the less when I was discussing with the "payment department" I found these postings and called them out on it. The guy told me he would more than happy to send me a debt validation and would "hold my account" until I received it. I am currently going through my credit report to see if these people are really on there. My advice ask them bluntly and then hang up if they sound fishy to you.

- anonymousThese are scammers. Do not give any information to them and better yet do not answer the phone for them. I just told them if they call my house one more time for their scam I will report them but i am going to do it anyways. Report these scammers it is happening every day with these scammers. They need to work and make money instead of trying to steal from innocent people. Report them please. This has to stop.

- Joanna T| 1 replyTACS Collections kept calling harrassing me about a liberty LLC loan I've never gotten a loan out on line nor have I ever used Liberty loan. I asked if I could get some information in the mail and they said they would get a supervisors approval. The man was very aggressive said he would said me paperwork never did. They had my last address, social and email information and where I banked. It seemed real. I gave them the four hundred they said I owed and haven't received anything saying it cleared. I now feel stupid that I fell for a fake creditor because to checked my credit report and there is nothing saying anything about Liberty. 855-904-9284 This is there number.

- BigA replies to Joanna TWell known criminal enterprise pretending to be a debt collector. They don't need a supervisor's approval as the law states they must mail it to you. Read WolfmanJack's post.
