- LarryBSecond time they called. Appears to be spoofed number. They do not identify themselves but claim some banking matter needs to be resolved. Probably running the threat-of-criminal-charges scam.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Richard Small's ex-wife| 1 replyOver the past 32 years I have received calls from this number (and others) looking for my ex and his wife. Please, I remarried and actually pay my bills--something Mr. Small doesn't do. Leave me and my husband alone---we are retired and living 1300 miles from him.
- Caller: wouldn't give

- K CarrI received a voice message from 844-531-9284. My Caller ID said the call was from Biomedical Jani. The message left was for M Carr - my late husband. They indicated it was an urgent 'business matter'. They left an account number which means nothing to me and requested a call back to 303-731-4630. Certainly sounds like a scam of some sort!
- Caller: Biomedical Jani
- JackieOn my office overnight recorder there was a message to call a 844 531 9284 about account #862421. They mumbled a name but it was unrecognizable. This call originated locally - Collinsville IL - from 618 206 2629. When I call the Collinsville number no one answers. Sounds like a skip-trace collection. We are a business and have no collection issues. I sometimes get these types of calls when an ex-tenant of mine uses our name and address as their employer not as their landlord. Just be careful.
- Caller: Unk.
- Call type: Debt collector
- TheodoreRobotic voice left message for (the name was mumbled), said it was an important message on a business matter, having to do with account 889170. I checked online and found similar reports. Am not responding to the call which sounds bogus.
- concernedWhomever called my mom's phone. Gave tons of information about the person they were looking for. Didn't identify the name of their business. For sure gave more information then the should legally.
- Caller: Unknown
- AnnaJust got a second call from this number. There was a robotic voice stating an account number. They did not identify who they were but said it was an urgent business matter and I needed to call them back at 844-531-9284. The number is definitely spoofed since it came up as 614-468-9258. I don't know if they believed they would get a response, but many people won't answer the phone if it's an unrecognized number, at least I don't...
- Caller: Did not identify themselves
- Call type: Debt collector
- R CunninghamI received a call from 704-508-0142 and it was a robotic voice stating an account number, saying there is an important business matter for my ex husband - we have been divorced for over 4 years and live in separate states. Told me to call 844-531-9284. However, there was only a generic robot voicemail that answered. I also called the 704 number back and got the same voicemail
- Caller: No name given

- KathleenI keep getting these calls for someone called 'Rocky Ray' with an account number of 737942. I once answered the phone and told them there was no such person at my number and to stop calling. The person said it was the first time they had called and would remove the number, but obviously didn't.

- CO SPGS| 1 replyReceived recorded message to call 844-531-9284 about a very important matter regarding account #723208. I called back and received message that the number was not accepting calls. My third call got through and a woman named Satin answered and asked how she could help me. Told her I Jesus and she was right where Satin belonged, in HELL!
- Alfalfa replies to CO SPGSHow can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - Erinn Metzger"Jerry" was a very rude and ignorant man who got verbally abusive and disrespectful. DO NOT waste your time calling the 844-531-9284 number back (caller id reflected 770-854-1570 Roopville, GA), they will not identify the company nor pass you to a supervisor to handle your request for escalation (claimed he was the floor manager and that the "owners" don't speak with callers. Said it was regarding a banking matter. When I asked how and where they got my contact information, I was told on a relative report. When I asked how they obtained that report, he continued to belittle me.
