I got a letter in the mail today then 5 minutes later called the sender J.E. Group. The letter was signed by Lee Stewart, Legal Administrator. I spoke with someone with Melissa James.  She said I wrote a bad check to Wells Fargo sometime in 2008 in the amount of $1060.14 and I now owe J.E. Group $2744.92 because they were retained by Wells Fargo. She also stated that I performed malicious intent to fraud a banking institution.  I use to have a bank account with Wells Fargo, but they never paid a bad check and that account was closed in 2008.  I got a similar call about 4 years ago and contacted Wells Fargo, who stated that they have no record of me owing any debt to them.  I have never received any correspondence or calls from Wells Fargo regarding me owing them any money, which is what I told Ms. James.  I see that this company has in the past used a different number and other complaints with almost the same scenario as mine.  I have no record on my credit report showing an outstanding debt.  The letter and Ms. James stated that further legal action will be taken if I didn't not settle this debt.  I told them I would seek legal representation if I needed.  Why should I have to pay money for an attorney on something I know I don't owe.

Missed call on mom's cell phone from this number, voice mail said they were looking to contact dad regarding my sister about some case number or other that has not yet been filed, etc etc, insert extremely shady filler. Mom called them back, spoke with a Miss James, who would not identify her company and hung up on her. She called back and spoke with a David Jenning, who said the office is in Anaheim and gave her another number to contact them directly. When she called it, it went to voicemail -- a generic cell phone message.

Message left on my husbands cell phone regarding a court case.  We have no court cases nor legal concerns.  Called the # and spoke with a generic operator who said they were a legal firm but would not give name.  Let her know I would be reporting the number since they were apparently a scam.

I spoke to someone from this caller who said I had a court hearing and I stopped the conversation immediately and told them I was going to report them to the FCC but that has not stopped their calls They called my parents home cell phone and neighbors and work saying they are trying to get in contact about a court hearing.  I do not owe anyone any money and have never been severed any court papers.  This is causing stress on my elderly parents  neighbors are telling they need to get in contact about a court hearing they told my employer the same thing.  How do I put a stop to this harassment
