Why have laws if you don't know them replies to MONITA RAMSEY
After you press the 'caps' key - WHY would you pay someone based only on a phone call? May I call you and demand money? Seeing as you just give it away. Tell them you want it in writing by US Mail. Not phone, fax, text, or email. US Mail. Come on folks. Know your rights.

Original call from from 844-281-1390.  After googling and learning that there were no actual businesses called by who she claimed she worked for, decided to call and see what they said.  Was transferred to Bill Jackson who gave 844-560-8087 as his direct number.  He said that there were 2 claims against me by the same company and that I would be 'served' at either my home or work tomorrow between 12 and 5 if I didn't make plans to resolve this today.  When I said that I wanted to actually speak to the "claimant," or at least have something in writing from them, he told me that it was only necessary to talk to him.  Then I told him that I would have to call back tomorrow since I wasn't feeling well.  I was having chest pains from my pulmonary embolism (true about the embolism and I'm on medication).  He continued to push, raising his voice a little.  After that, he hung up on me.  So - under "Caller Company," take your pic:  Virginia Legal Services (no such business); Legal One (they're out of NJ and are business that offers law student classes), or NCR & Associates (an "Information Technology consulting firm" out of Burlington). 'Course, I always thought of NCR as National Cash Register......

844-560-8087 or NCR and Bill Jackson....They are a third party debt collection agency, more commonly known as "zombie collectors". What their company does is buy old debt ( that you are most likely not liable for as the statute of limitations has  most likely past) for pennies on the dollar and then harass you to pay it. It is important that you understand your rights.
1.If a agency calls you at work then tell them to stop, BY LAW they have to quit harassing you at work.
    2. DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY DEBT. Instead insist that they send you evidence of this debt in writing (legally they have to provide it in order to sue you in small claims court). State firmly and clearly that you want to see evidence of the alleged debt in writing and that you do acknowledge it as yours. If they cant provide you with written proof of debt then they cant contact you any more.
    3. It is illegal for them to threaten you with legal action if they have no intention of doing so. Most Zombie collectors don't have any proof of the debt the say you owe. What they want to do is get you to admit that you owe it. If you do that then you re-set the statue of limitations on that particular debt. By doing so they violate the  federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and you can actually sue them.

These people are unscrupulous and will do everything to try to scare you. Don't fall for it and report them to the Better Business Bureau and to the (FDCPA).

This is not a discussion as to whether or not we should "Pay our bills"--

This is about consumers' rights when it comes to the collection of debts.

    Thanks for playing.

Yeah, someone by the name of Phil Thomas tried to say I owed to MyCashnow. I told him he needed to send a validation letter to me through the mail. He deflected any attempts to send me the letter. All he wanted to do was send me an email (which he still did, but it didn't state anything other than what we discussed) i didn't give any info and also spoke with local authorities and my attorney general.
