I don't think this is Apple. is it a scam?

In a word, yes!  The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

What should someone do if they called the number and had they "fix" the pc?

Unplug the computer and take it to a local computer repair place.  Tell them what you did and pay them to undo the damage.

If you do on-line banking, bill paying, or shopping change all of your access codes.  Contact your bank to close your bank account and credit cards and get new accounts with new numbers.

Contact everyone in your email address book.   Tell them your computer has been compromised.  Warn them to watch for email that pretends to be from you but is not from you.  Tell them to watch for and delete a lot more spam.

I received the same message from safari saying call this number immdediately. Unfortunately I called and I let them into my Mac. David John asked to repair it for 100$ but I said no. Then I turned my Mac off.
What should I do?

I restarted my MacBook, turned off WI-FI, opened the Internet and closed the page. This solved the problem

i got the same pop up. I called apple support at the number listed on the apple.ca website. they told me this 1-844-564-6259 is NOT APPLE.

I received same messages every few weeks. Unfortunately I called and I let them into my Mac 1yr. ago. They ask $100but I said no. each block up form them destroyd all my day.

www.applesecurity-alert.com blocked my Apple computer and asked to call 844-564-6259. it is illegal act. i need to protect my c-r now.they destroyed all my day. they do it time to time. i don't feel secure any more. also i need to go to apple store to clean up this spam. somebody needs to protect users.

they block my Apple and asked to call to protect from viruse. after calling asked $100. it's illegal company and destroyed my day. later they called every few weeks and i spent a lot of time to unfreez my computer. how to stop them?

Everybody with this problem has to switch off the internet connection and open Safari or others program in use, then delete History so your cache will be clean.
Restart and switch on internet, the problem is resolved.

It is a fraud company !!! Pay attention don't pay what they are asking better call the police
