I keep getting scam calls from this number along with this number 805-265-4966 indicating their Credit professional services  dept of civil processing

I have recieved a voice mail from this phone number stating that I have been served a citation or some thing weird like that and that I need to be in court for April 3, 2018, however it does not explain which court house I am supposed to be at, and it also does not  tell me the time of which I am supposed to be at this alleged court date. I thought you had to be physically handed and served by a Sharif or police officer a summons/citation. Also I know that I have not been in trouble or that I have not done any thing illegal or wrong. So I really don't understand what this message is really about. I think on Monday April 2nd I will be contacting my Lawyer to find out about this because I have no idea why I am receiving this call. I also want to find out what can be done about this cause not only do these people have my regular information BUT they also have my social security number which really makes me worried. Like what do these people want from me. Do they not realize that if they are trying to scam me that I literally have no money and I also can not get any money. So if these people can get all of our information then they should know that I have bad credit and no income and you figured they would try scamming people who actually have money. So any ways if there is anyone on here that know more information about these scammers or if they really are scammers or if this really is real it would be great to know what really is going on with this phone call.

I can tell you that this is a debt collection/process server extortion scam.  In order to be served it has to be done by the local courthouse Rules of Civil Procedure which usually states that service must be in person or by certified, return receipt mail.  You will have to call them as to whether it must be served by the Sheriff, a Constable, or a private process server bonded and registered by the state.  No one calls you and tells you that you have to be in court in 2 days, that is not how it works.  Also, they certainly would not be calling you on a holiday.

They will mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid. 

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Threaten to go my place of Employment to Serv Legal documents

I got a call from this outfit but the number showed on my ID as unavailable, but the caller said to respond to this same number. The girl calling was speaking so fast and the reception was garbled and the ambient noise around the girl's voice sounded like a busy call center. However, I was able to get enough out of it to recognize it as a "show up to a court date" scam. And from the looks of the other posts on here it does seem to be something going around in the past few days and weeks.

Unknown caller. I let it go to voicemail. Caller states his name is Investigator Jonathan Moore, Dept of Legal Services, calling for Fred Zamora (not me, or anyone I know) regarding a recent case filed using his name and SS#. Case#253205-US. Was told to call this number. I think it's a scam

I received a message two days ago from an unknown number, with the woman speaking so fast I could hardly understand her. I couldn't understand her name or even the company she was calling from. What I was able to gather was that I have a court date on May 11th, they would serve me at  home or my place of employment, and to call the phone number above. She did know the last four of my social so that makes me wonder but I know exactly what's on my credit report and it ain't much. I'll be ignoring this message.

I just received a phone call (the fourth one so far this year) from a fast talking lady saying that I need to be served a citation and if I need more information to contact Proffessional legal services and she gave the number and then threatened to come to my home which she had my current address and my previous one, and serve me with my notice.
I really wish these people would get a life and quit trying to ruin everyone else’s

Interesting enough, I just got the same call this evening while I was at work where the person introduced himself as a Jonathan Moore who was a investigator with Legal Services. He reported that he just received my information by fax and that he needed to serve me with a court order at my residence or job. When I tried calling back no one picked up. This sounds like a spam call so don’t pick up!!!

That person posted here last year.  I doubt they will be back to see your reply.  I also see that a post was made that provided insight into this call.  Too bad you didn't bother to read it.
