- John| 2 repliesThese [***] called me 20 times in a row on my cell even after I asked them to stop calling. Said they had papers to serve me so I told them where I work and told them to come serve me. Total scam. The lady at Fidelity Capital had the nerve to tell me that "My sister and her husband are sick of getting calls from them and that they now know what a bad guy I am." I could not believe the level in to which these scammers go. SICK SICK PEOPLE!!

- William replies to JohnThey are criminals. Everything they say is a lie. Challenge them and they create more lies.
- Tygerkat replies to JohnJust FYI - NO process server is going to call you in advance; you could hide if you knew they were coming. And you can't buy your way out of a summons, either, which is what they will claim if you speak to them. My advice is to block the number or at the very least, ignore them when they call. Let your family know about this scam attempt so they can block the number as well.
- AnonThey called my mother & said they had legal papers & we're trying to get a hold of me. So glad this site exists where we can all share this info! :) Little scared at first but glad to know this was a scam before I did anything!

- LynnA family member received a call from 844-627-6858 asking for me with a reference number. I called the number and they wanted to verify the last 4 digits of my SS number which I did not verify. I asked them what is this in reference to and they would not tell me, just said it was legal papers and until I would verify my SS they would not answer any questions. I told them to f*** off.

- BigA replies to NikkiYes it is a scam, but people that know their rights and know how debt collection is supposed to work don't fall for it. Perhaps you should take the time to learn what you need to know?
Start here:
Criminals masquerading as debt collectors attempt to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished without actually being sued or going to court, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

- LoriReceived a two calls from 209-332-3001 telling me to call 844-627-6858 with a case number. They said that they have tried to have a certified letter delivered to me, but they are using my maiden name which I have not had for 16 years. I won't even bother to call the other number and blocked the first number. This is a total scam!
- StaceyThis number called my neighbor (same first name as mine) and stated that this was the number I provided as a contact number. I called them back and they said I owed money from 2001. I would not provide them with any of my info and stated that papers will be served to me. My response was "OK". This is a total scam. Do not give them any info or pay them any money.

- B.P.The 1-844-627-6858 called my mother's phone and gave her a reference number and told her that I need to call back because they have some legal documents. They told her they are from Dallas,TX County office (I live in Dallas) but I found it weird that the number was a 1-800 number. I called but didn't give them any information and asked who was calling and they said they are from Fidelity Litigation. I hung up and looked up the number with their "company" name and found this site with the same situation. I'm glad I find this site so that I could make sure it was a scam.

- Clearly a scamSame here. Someone called a relative of mine from a local area code. They said they have legal documents for me then provided a "case number", a fake company name that was unintelligible, and this call back number. This is clearly a scam folks. Stay vigilant against these criminals and keep the reports coming in.
