Just was a recording that said "Thank you for calling A.C.S." I don't know who that is....

The number has been harassing family members by telling them I missed a court date. I h@ve lived in same place for 20 plus years and why not contact me personally by phone or mail. If they can contact Mauldins related and not related then they can find me.

Criminals masquerading as debt collectors attempt to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished without actually being sued or going to court, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They will use the words “Mediator”, “Arbitrator”, or “Law Office” to make you believe that they are something other than a debt collector want-a-be and that they don’t have to follow Federal and State collection laws.  They do have to follow those laws, but they won’t.  They mention that they have received a Fax document, to create the sense of urgency.  They also tell you that if you fail to call them back you are "waiving your right to council", which is pretty much nothing but hogwash.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.

My mother received a phone call today saying I was being subpoenaed to court, I had a similar thing happen last year with them saying I hadn't paid my credit card bill for some store in a state I had never even been to and there was no records on my bank statement saying I had bought anything from them. Stood out as a scam because why would they call my mother and not call me directly about what was going on.

They call and say they are a process server and they have a subpoena for court they will not tell me where or how this was obtained.

I've been officially notified for jusdiction???..... ok......

Someone called saying my schizophrenic brother had a summons and freaked me out considering he is an invalid. He left me a number and I got a quick talking older lady who probably has never gotten a break due to a really bad attitude. I asked if it was a police station and she replied that it was a filing company for litigation to sound super official and lawyer like. I asked what kind of litigation and she said depends. From here out I knew she was tight lipped and I finally asked what it was about and she said she couldn't say. I said I need to filter the call because he is weak minded and easily fooled because of his mental disability and she said she wasn't there to provide indication that they aren't a scam. That's when I knew...total scammy scam. In fact, because of their approach to me in regards to my brother and after giving them information into his condition, I too am considering litigation against their company.
