Message about a refund from an unnamed company ordered to shut down. Haven't bought anything recently from such a company. Definitely a scam to get you to call back and give them bank account or credit card info. Beware!!

I also had a message from an unnamed company that was supposed to be closing down, saying something about providing technical support for our computer. We were supposed to call them for a refund of the money we had paid for their service (we had paid nothing).  I guess they think we're brainless?

No voicemail; blocked

Got a voicemail on my home number (which I never give out), telling me to "Please call us on our toll free number"..... it was a recording, and the phone number was cut off in at least 5 spots. That was the only information given.

Robocaller calling from the Microsoft Claims department. This is why it is illegal FRAUD, and how they will SCAM you.

First. Microsoft does not robocall (so obvious FRAUD)
Second. Microsoft does not call end-users. EVER. (Hence SCAM)
Third. The phone number is NOT Microsoft (obvious SPOOF, hence ILLEGAL)
Fourth. The phone number cannot be called back to (obvious non-functional number)

Block the call now. Do not let them convince you of squat, least they get any of your banking information to rob you blind.

Scam.. Microsoft rebate for closing down.. Refund.. Called back on my blocked line,  rang once then disconnect. These fools cant even get that right .LOL  Just block the tools

Received voicemail informing me that I requested service on my computer in the past and I should call for a refund of my money because the company has had to shut down. No name given, and I made no such request. I blocked the number.

Kind of hilarious.  They left me a message to the effect that I am owed a refund for techical support from Microsoft because the company was orderd to close down.  (You think there might have been some news about a trillion dollar company being ordered to shut down somewhere).  Anyhow, against my normal inclinations, I called the number provider and low and behold they actually have a whole call center.  Each time I called I asked to be taken off their phone list.  The first time, after I asked, they didn't say anything, so I hung up.  The second time, the same.  The third time, the guy cussed me out.  The fourth time, he insisted it was the MS refund department even after I explained I just wanted off their list, then when I explained I knew he wasn't MS, because, among other things, MS doesn't employ people who fly into a cussing rage when they get asked to taken off a list, he hung up.  Five and six pretty much the same thing.  It was a noisy call center, and I know I got at least 4 unique individuals.  Apparently, looking this up on MS help site, someone actually fell for this.  I guess they get you to give remote control and log into your bank, assumedly to get access to your account.

I didn’t answer, and the caller did not go through the prompts to bypass my call screening device.

Fact:

• ANYONE who calls or emails you and says your computer called/contacted them is a SCAMMER.
• ANYONE who calls or emails you and says your online server called/contacted them is a SCAMMER.
• Windows Operating System licenses do not expire.
• ANYONE who calls or emails you with a message about your computer having illegal activity, is a SCAMMER.
• Apple will never, ever call you about alleged suspicious iCloud activity.
• ANY Tech Support Warning pop-ups you get while accessing the internet asking you to call a number or visit a website, is from a SCAMMER.
• Web Browsers DO NOT have the ability to determine and warn you your computer has an error. They can only warn you about a potential malicious website. A Browser is software that allows you to surf the Internet, not diagnose a computer or phone.
• ANY Tech Support company that insists you need their services because of some error, outdated software or tries to convince you that you need to allow them remote access is a SCAMMER.
• Nobody could possibly know if your computer or devices have an issue unless you tell them or gave them access.
• Tech Support companies DO NOT call or email to give out refunds because they are "going out of business", or to "cancel a subscription".  Companies DO NOT give refunds unless they have to.
• Companies DO NOT call to inform you that your subscription will be charged if you don't call back, only SCAMMERS do that. If you have a subscription with someone, they automatically charge you until you cancel it and they don't give a refund.
• Only a Scammer would want Remote Access to give a Refund.
• 3rd party Tech services DO NOT include Email account repairing or password resetting, since they can not access the email server unless it belongs to them.

Never trust a caller who wants to "help your computer" for any reason (unless you contacted them first), as they are only going to scam you. If you need Tech Support, you should contact a reputable local service.
