- D.J| 8 repliesI just received a call on my cell phone from a David Carr. (18446477627x705) This is the 2nd time they have contacted me about some unpaid Payday loan I did in 2010. He told me that if I didn’t pay today they will serve me papers. I told him I was not going to pay until they send me some tape of paper work. He said they have me on video and he was going to sign an arrest warrant. IT IS HARRASSMENT!!
- Caller: Dallas Tx
- Slim replies to D.JIf you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - tameka replies to D.J| 5 repliesI got a call yesterday from the same number and ext..705 so yes it a scam
So why are these idiots doing this to people.if u had a loan im sure it was a good reason for nonpayment..they told me yesterday that i had to pay $1000 before 4pm
And talk really bad to me like i was a bad criminal - RachelDiana Sears called from 844-647-7627 to several extensions at my office, leaving a voicemail with confidential information such as my name and that they were pursuing legal action against me for fraud. I returned their call (from a private number) and they answered the phone "United States Processor." When I asked for Diana Sears, they transferred me to someone else. There was a lot of fuzz and silence so I hung up. They called back from unknown and private numbers saying that they had a warrannt for my arrest and I could spend 72 months in prison. They had already notified police at my workplace and my director's office and had a GPS tracking on me. The guy on the phone became very belligerent with me. I have reported this to my local authorities.

- CWG40Same old white collar criminal gang going around calling people across the country trying to scam them on non-existent or questionable debts. Nobody has yet been able to find them.
- Caller: None
- CWG40 replies to D.JReally dumb debt scammer. Since when are debt collectors going to sign arrest warrants. Who'd fall for this.
- ElenaI had some phone calls from these ppl about 2 years ago about a payday loan debt. I did some research by calling the ppl I actually had a payday loan with and they had no record of my loan anymore gave me the numbers to their collectors and with much effort I got a hold of the right company. I got them to send me letter in writing of this little debt I had left over from 7years ago and paid them. When the scammers called me back I let them know the debt had been paid and I had proof in writing from the actual company that the pay day ppl hire. They wanted me to send them this letter with my confidential Information on this. I told him sure and they left kindly left me alone. Now they are getting ahold of ppl once again that know of me and are harassing them often. All of a sudden I'm getting calls from them again. Same number as per above. No chances of being sued or having a warrant for my arrest. It's terribly wrong and stressful to have this continue to happen. I will report this to the right authorities today. Waisting time. I hope they get caught. I didn't know we had a jail/prison for debtors and debtors that pay their debts. Which obviously are no longers debtors these idiots.

- Anonym| 1 replyI received a call today from my Daughter, telling me that a Mr. Brad Jordan 1-844-647-7627.He told her I have a warrant for my arrest for fraud. I know this is not the case so I contacted him myself. He told me I have a unpaid payday loan for $781.00 if I don't pay by Midnight tonight I will be arrested. Well I'm not stupid, I contacted the Court of Clerk in the State they mentioned and ask if I had a warrant for my arrest, and they said no. And they don't call people telling them about warrants. So I again called Mr. Jordan back and told him that I contacted the court, and that I want proof of thhis so called bill. He told me they don't do that. Screw them if you think I'm just sending you money without proof. Arrest me then. These people need to be stopped.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

- Kelli HarperThis number called today 12/19/2014 threatened me to turn myself in to the police because I had some serious accuations on me and that I had a warrant out for my arrest. And when I turn myself in they were going to take my kids from me. They made everything sound so professional my kids and mother were there and everyone was upset and my kids were scared. They have all my personal information like my full name, SSnumber and my address. This is scary known they have all this especially my address. A man talked who was very mean and rude but when they left the message it was a female named Diana Sears. Their number is 1-844-647-7627

- TammyI got a call today from this same number. They were doing this call like they were acting for a play. They were rude, cussed me out and treated me as a criminal. They threatened me saying if I don't pay them 961.70 today by 1:30 pm then they were going to arrest me and take my children from me. So I called my mother and she suggested me to call the attorney general's office and the police in which i did. The attorney general's office have suggested I go to this website to turn them. I figured if other people are going through I will help them out from being scammed.
www.IC3.gov - YM replies to cm| 2 repliesThey called me in regards to a payday loan from 09 too and this people were using intimidation saying I was going to go to jail and that I was going to have a felony on me...They are crazy and disrespectful !!!
- Alfalfa replies to YM| 1 replyA caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - YM replies to AlfalfaI ask the name of the agency and they don't want to provide me with it. I also ask for their address and they refuse to give me any information, they just keep trying to intimidate me saying I will have a felony and an officer will arrest me if I don't pay them the amount of $1000.00. I wonder where they get people's info? I already blocked all of their calls and unnouwn callers. 18446477627 is the number these scammers use. I think we should get together and get them off the market.
- Carrie| 1 reply
Receive call from Jacob Cobb in dallas looking for a Rhodena, says he was with fraud investigation.- Caller: Fraud investigation.
- Alfalfa replies to CarrieHere are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
