Hello, good afternoon. This is my third and final attempt to contact A. G. My name is Kyleen and I'm calling from the processors office regarding the case number 2023-12xxxxx. This is not a sales or a marketing call. This is a legal matter and several attempts have been made. And at this point, the file now has been marked for immediate processing and service. In order to stop further action from being taken, you will need to contact the issuing agent today. The contact number for the issuing agent is 844 6999090. This call is logged and recorded as proof efforts have been made to notify you again. That phone number is 8446999090."

The fake process server/location specialist scam usually contains:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Tim is threatening to have me arrested for not giving information for a place I haven't lived in for 15 years. This is a scam, don't even waste your time. Tim lives in his Mom's basement and tries to scam money from people threatening lawsuits. Somehow he has your last 4 of your social security number which makes it even more sketchy. Don't give this toolbag any of your information.

I have been receiving harassing calls from various numbers all over North Texas for weeks claiming about legal documents that I need to verify. Once I finally called them repeatedly and told him I was turning in every single number I had received a call from they at have now apparently blocked me. This is a scam! They actually hung up on me when I told them, I had an attorney!

Same as the rest. Most recent was from Emily about 30 mins ago. All the voicemails say what sounds like DVS but their English isn’t good and they’re always muffled. Then once that schpeel is over the same recorded message starts about contacting the issuing agent. They are asking for my previous married name (well close, wrong middle initial) that I haven’t used in almost 14 years. Same people have also called my husband and his mother. Not sure what list they have to connect my previous married name to my current mother in law. Scammers are such scum!

Not the guy you're looking for
My wife got some of the same rubbish from this number. Could be a scam or it could be one of those idiots that bought the get Rich quick debt collector book and now they're trying to cash in on deadbeat debts. With all the data breaches it's possible your phone number has been tied back to some idiot that used it fraudulently and now of course they think it's you. Just ignore it or demanded in writing if you decide to call. You'll likely get nothing or a good laugh. If you Google the phone numbers mentioned in quotes they usually come up to nothing except a database of phone numbers.
