Received a call today. Recorded message left on my phone answering service. The call claim to be a collection agency, First Financial Asset. The number on my caller ID indicated it was Bristol TN, but when I looked up the name of the company the recording named it appears to be a collection agency out of Georgia. I owe no one any money. I looked up my credit report to see if anything had been accidentally added. My credit is in good standing. No collections listed. I don't intend to make a return call to try and find out what this is all about, because these type companies are known to try and trick people into giving out personal information, then they'll use that information to attached you to a bill that belongs to someone else with a similar or same sounding name.
My name is quite common. I believe they pulled my name off the internet, and assume they have the person they're trying to reach. It's not me. Again I owe no one. I'm mortgage free. Own my own car out right. No payments or loans of any kind. No hospital bills etc. Nothing, zitch nada.

I received a call from 844-709-3682 and they say that i owe the debt collection. But i dont owe any bills . Not sure if this is legitimate or not

Someone called my sister from this number claiming to be a law firm called JP Legal, telling her to have me call them so that I don't miss a court date, provided her with a case# & call back 866 number. This is a blatant violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act & when I called back to advise them of such, they rudely told me that I'll be served with a summons & complaint & hung up. My next step is to file a formal complaint with my state AG, then sue them (FFAM, that's the debt collector the number comes back to) for breach of the 3rd party disclosure provision of the FDCPA.

I experienced the same as other posters. I first received a text message from a supposed debt collector first financial. I returned the phone call and left a message asking what it was pertaining to. I never received unofficial response. I just get scam hang up calls that seem to be from a Robo machine from this number. I too have no outstanding bills for collections. no idea what the steps from. I agree with the fair credit reporting act statement of other poster and plan to do the same. Good luck to all. I agree this is probably a scam. FYI, the other popular Scam I am receiving lately is a prompt to either provide my ZIP Code because I have a package being held by USPS or a text message telling me I owe a bill to Indiana toll road, which is quite funny because there are no toll roads in Indiana. The only toll roads are are operated by other states lol be vigilant friends, your information of your identity is invaluable to these scammers. It is incredible. What can be done for their gain and your detriment with just a few pieces of pertinent information. Be sure to always encrypt sensitive information and do not engage in business with companies whose sole purpose is selling information to help build a profile about you. Happy 2025.
