Just got a call from this number, didn’t answer and they left a voicemail which almost sounded like the guy was reading off a script and sounded robotic.. “we are calling because you are a person of interest for” then said my mother’s name. Did not leave any specific details, no business name and no reason for calling. Just gave us a phone number to call back…DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!

This number has called me on several occasions.  The first time I did call the number left in the voice mail.  The man said it was regarding a Payday loan that I had supposedly taken in 2015 but had never paid back.  I called him on it and asked what exact date and what company.  He started hedging and saying he had my bank account info (which he quoted and was correct).  I told him that I had not received any previous phone calls OR mail OR email (as they had said in the voice mail).  I told him that ONLY after receiving a written statement of any loan I supposedly (I didn't but) took out.  He yelled that I would be sued.  He kept asking me to verify my address so that the legal paperwork could be completed and filed with my local court.  I told him to provide me ALL the documentation regarding this and we would talk further.  He hung up on me at that point.  The next day I received another phone call from the same number but the man said his name was Mike from ENC Review and he left a different phone number.  I have not called that number and will not.

Same!! They tried to say I owed them $450 from a check cashing place in 2015. I live in Arkansas and those were shut down YEARS before that by our Attorney General. Lol. The man I was speaking to was sooooo mad I knew that and started yelling at me. When I told him not to raise his voice he got louder and said "this is me raising my voice". I told him to never call again and blocked the number.

MEDIATION ACCOUNT CENTER AKA MAC AKA DNR

    Mark Daniels from MAC

Website says that they are in Florida:  https://mediationac.org/

The address is a virtual office, favorite of criminal organizations pretending to be debt collectors.

The BBB gives them an F rating with 153 complaints (BBB removed 58 complaints for some reason) and 31 negative reviews and alerts as of 3/28/23:  https://www.bbb.org/us/fl/pembroke-pines/prof ... r-0633-90432086

BBB also lists a residential address for them:  9751 SW 12th St Pembroke Pines, FL 33025-3654  Which is registered to Thu & Tham Nguyen and may be a rental.

    https://www.google.com/maps/place/9751+SW+12t ... 4!4d-80.2748821

The Florida Dept. of State has no registration on file for either a corporation or a fictitious name.  This means that they are operating illegally.

The Florida Dept. of Financial Regulation has nothing on record for the business name or the name listed on the BBB as the manager.  This means that they are again operating illegally.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

This number just called my mother in law, looking for my husband as a “person of interest.” Stated if she knew him to call them or have him call. Never stated what company/department they were with or even a name. It came up under “Belton, South Carolina.”
Luckily she called me because she had no clue what to do, but I googled the number and found this page. Thankfully I informed her that it was indeed a scam as I suspected.
Help protect yourselves and your loved ones from these scammers!
