- Penny Wise| 13 repliesThis is apparently the NEW number for H.W.C. -- which is, as far as I can tell, some sort of mortgage insurance racket; their previous number, which has complaints dating back to 2018(!) is 855-901-9227. Not a call, but the 844 number is their current callback number on the postcard I got in the mail yesterday. I first ran across these [***] a couple of years ago when we refinanced our home equity line of credit (which trust me, was NOT in Florida). But I was seeing complaints on the BBB site where the postcards ("I got a yellow one -- what color is yours?" "I got a pink one") actually did list the lending company in some cases. I reported it to my lender at the time. Actually I went screaming into their office going "WTF is this crap?" So when I got the card today (this one is yellow) and saw the fine print, I had all sorts of warning bells go off in my head. I've now reported them to the FTC and the Florida Attorney-General. But was unable to find an actual address, just the (current) callback number. Which, apparently, while toll-free, the 844 area code is inundated by scammers. I guess I'm going to the bank tomorrow to give THEM a heads up: "THEY'RE BAAAAACK! The H.W.C. [***]...."

- andrea| 5 repliesgot a YELLOW postcard stating it was TIME SENSITIVE, relating to a mortgage I recently closed (i sold my house a few months ago). Says IMPORTANT MATTER regarding the loan. WTF is this krap? How dare they solicit themselves like that... Small print says H.W.C... to say we cut down trees to allow this kind of krap to be printed and waste our mail carrier's time delivering such junk.

- Blake| 2 repliesI too have received the pretty yellow postcard telling me, (in bright red bold font) that immediate response is needed regarding my mortgage loan. Needless to say, I knew this was garbage but wanted to check and see how many others have been subjected to these scammers.
PLEASE check with YOUR lender first people! Odds are high that if there is a problem, they will contact you personally and not through a little yellow or pink postcard delivered through the mail. Be careful and don't fall for these scam artists. Thanks to the above reviewers for their input as well.- Caller: Postcard H.W.C.

- Kathy| 1 replyAlso received this postcard talking about about a current mortgage recorded in 2019. Actually we do not have any mortgage. Where do these scammers come from?

- Me TooYes indeed, I too am the recipient of a suspiciously worded yellow postcard. "Immediate response needed," it says, but fails to detail what this "important matter" could be. The clue on mine to it being a scam is that it doesn't include my full legal name as it appears on the deeds to our properties. To the trash it goes!

- Mary replies to KathyI as well received yellow postcard stating urgent, don’t fall for these evil people, always look up numbers before calling SCAM ha ha
- Xyz replies to andreaI got a yellow postcard also. Figured it was a scam. Thanks for your info.
- CMGot the yellow card today in the mail. No company name, just H.W.C. in small print. And my bank would never send a post card with this vague information. Mortgage ID# is not even close. Same phone number: 844-748-0400.
- Call type: Unwanted
- SallyGot the yellow postcard also! Thanks to everyone for posting and explaining “HWC”.
- Ken SchmidtReceived this for a refi I closed over 8 months ago. Clearly a scammer. Unscrupulous tactics to say it is an important, time sensitive manner. Bull.

- Richard AI'm thankful so many spoke up / wrote experiences on this! I go my yellow postcard today with all the same info: "We need you to call us about an important matter regarding this loan. This is time sensitive..." Unreal that they can access my name and my lender. Recycling now.

- BobGot a little yellow postcard in the mail, with BIG, red, all caps "IMPORTANT NOTICE: IMMEDIATE RESPONSE NEEDED."
Lists my husbands name...although, not his legal name...and my name is nowhere to be found, even though both of our names are on the mortgage. Also lists our lenders name and what I'm guessing is a bogus Mortgage ID#.
All the while, the little fine print lists H.W.C. a.d states that the loan information wasn't provided by said lender.- Caller: H.W.C.

- Polo| 2 repliesGot one of these yellow post cards myself. It states the mortgage was recorded on Sept 16, 2020??? I did close a mortgage in 2015. WTF!!! I myself think the government should go after these scammers and give them an appropriate penalty. Like a year in jail for each of these postcards they sent out, with no possibility of parole!!!

- BigA replies to Polo| 1 replyWell, you see, first off it is junk mail, as I previously posted. Second, in order for it to legally be a scam they have to offer something of no value. Now, can you prove to us that they are offering something of no value? No you can't because they will give you a home warranty. Now whether that home warranty ends up being a help or a hindrance is another story. Criminal charges must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. This is simply marketing.
- CWright| 1 replyI JUST received a lovely pink card today in the mail - the color pink is usually used as a "warning" color, right? Telling me that this is regarding "time sensitive" information and to call as soon as possible. Except they didn't even get my name correct. And, the company that I have my mortgage through isn't even listed (in fact, no company name is listed), except in the bottom right corner in really small font that this is not affiliated with or sponsored by (fill in name of my current mortgage company). This can fool almost anyone who isn't paying attention. Be careful!!

But it does usually represent a female baby whereas blue represents a male baby.Quote:the color pink is usually used as a "warning" color, right?
I suppose it could fool you. The rest of us know what junk mail is. See my previous post, the one right above your post.Quote:This can fool almost anyone who isn't paying attention. Be careful!!
