Read the info I posted further above - no one gets a heads up they'll be served - ever!  Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL - do not accept email or fax - proof of debt/proof your caller has the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of their initial contact with you is another violation of federal law.  In other words, no written, verifiable proof of debt mailed to you, per the FDCPA - you should not pay them!

This number popped up in a new window when I tried to get my webmail.  Claimed to be Cox Communications and noted that it was toll-free.....just in case I was stupid enough to call it.
