    Drop down screen appeared on my computer while I was using it. Message had the Microsoft logo and stated... "your computer is infected with a virus etc. call this number immediately to fix the problem or my computer will auto. shut down..." I turned my computer off immediately.

    I'm glad that I found Mattie's post.  A friend got the same message and asked me to look into it.  She was able to get the drop down window closed, but I suggested that she re-boot just to be on the safe side.  Do NOT call this number back.  It does not belong to Microsoft.
