received a call from this number that did not leave a message, a scam in progress

I got a call from this number and they left no voicemail. I just don't want people from unknown phone numbers calling me.

My caller ID showed the call was from (844) 801-9992, however, the person left a voice mail message saying  their number was 888-486-4722.   My phone server is Xfinity and they have a service changing voice messsages into writings.  Probably it was translator's error, but it was written as Nellnet.com. This web page exists and it is also a money lending company. I have an account with Nelnet.com.
I deleted the message without calling them at 888-486-4722. It is so suspicious.

Been called a couple times, I do have an account with Nelnet but I haven't seen this number until the past couple of days. Only voice mail that is left says "we are having difficulty processing this call, please call back later" even though they are the ones calling. Be wary and contact Nelnet through your account if you are curious about anything they need to be getting in touch with you about.

But I've never had a student loan and I get calls from them!  This is nothing more, nothing less than a scam looking for your acct. #s to rip you off.  Beware.

I tell them to go ahead and show up to see what happens.

I have repeatedly told y'all to quit calling my phone y'all will not get my social security number and I have no account with y'all all of my students loans have been taken care of call my phone one more time and I'm calling the cops y'all are a scam trying to get my personal information

Called from this number @1640 hrs...unknown number to me so did not answer... we are retired with NO CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN, so you can imagine my surprise to read that 844 801 9992 belongs to a company who deals with student loans.... !!!!!

I was contacted from this number 11/29/2016 evening time. Did not recognize the phone number so, I did not pick up. No message was left. Did a check on the number and here I am leaving this details to other users.

Pretended to be from Publishers Clearing House and I should call back for more information about a prize.

This number called twice no response after hello and 5 second grace and etiology for a response. This is annoying. They have been blocked from my phone.

Why cant they call me and tell me that.  Bet they are afraid of guns!

Anyone who makes threat's about collection's is a scammer. It's against federal law to threaten someone when trying to collect a debt !

Then keep a phone log, number the caller i.d. show's, time, date, the thing's the person said  who called you. ( exact time ) date. What the person say's to you. You will need all that information when you contact your attorney to sue them in federal court.

YES, robo calls are illegal; especially to a cell phone !   Whick I just received on my cell phone.

You should have hung up after they asked for your social security number.  YES, they are scammers, but probably the real NelNet collection agency, I have no doubt. My wife got a call from this number. Long story short I hired a 3rd party under for the student loan forgiveness program because I am military. Well I stop receiving updates from the 3rd party company. Last communication I had was my loans were paid off. Well today my wife got a call from this number and ask me to give them a call. I did. It was Nelnet which wrong a bell. However all of my information was wrong except for two things. I was told about my account and found out in fact my loans weren't paid off just deferred and I was a month past due. I got as much information as I could and called the 3rd party company. I received a out of service tone. I than Google the number I called and found a bunch of forums some saying this number is fake and some say the number is not. So I went to Nelnet website and called the number from the website. This number is legit. If you get a call it's about your loans and the information Nelnet has may or may not be right before saying it's a fake number. Nelnet maybe trying to get in contact with someone who had your number last or maybe on the application etc. My recommendation is answer the call than call back thru the website.

Yes, this is about student loans - but because well after school I became permanently disabled, my loans were discharged a few years ago.
However, a few months ago I suddenly started getting harassed by Nelnet again.  I keep telling them to leave me alone, but apparently I'm going to have to file an official complaint?

Note:  This company is now calling you from 844-801-9993.  Number's on this site as well.

Call from Nelnet which is an education loan company. We have school loans through them.
