I would like to know if this number is a scam

I called the number that the call originated from (not the number Investigator Carlson said to call back) and it was a local Judge's office.  They have no Investigator Carlson in their office and were not very happy that their phone number was being spoofed for use in a scam, the irony was not lost on either myself or the woman who answered the phone. Total scam.

An Investigator Miller called my job but never called my personal number

Called work and says call about check fraud & you've been served!

They called my brothers home and threatened my sister in law. They called my husband and threatened to serve me with a warrant for my arrest. They said they had my address to come and pick me up. They gave my husband our address. I hate people like that.

They gave my husband this phone number to call back and a reference number. The number they gave was 844-804-6078. We're afraid to call back.

They are a SCAM.  Threatening us with legal action if we do not pay this false debt.  I asked "Patrick" the company address and he told me 1 800 go [***] myself.  I have tried numerous times to call to waste their time as they have wasted mine and now they hang up on me immediately or send me to voice mail.  Good times!  :-)

Unknown number but called my phone and family members phone and left messages for ME! Said they were Investigator Brown with a complaint on me. They gave a Pre-Trial Doc. number and said to call 844-804-6078 and they would be arriving at my place of address or work.  Called the local police dept. and they did say it was a SCAM!!

Yes it most likely is a scam.  See the other entries.  Ignore and block the calls.

Don't call them back.  Total scammers.  If you were suspected of check fraud you'd have already been interviewed by law enforcement on a face-to-face basis.  Your bank would have notified you much earlier. Ignore and block these calls.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.

A phone call is not service of anything.  Check fraud is a crime and is handled by police and public prosecutors acting under a complaint filed by the bank.  These callers are debt scammers.  Ignore them.

Just got the same call today - complaint against my son in law for possible check fraud (female said she was investigator morgan) Same stuff, pre-trial doc, would go to his work or residence, and he had 24 hours to call back. I did not answer the phone as I did not recognize the number. They did NOT say who they were with.

Also, my called ID said the call was coming from North Tonawanda New York (716) 389-4011

Got a call today from this number, first a woman stating that she was from the courts, to serve me with check fraud charges. Asked for more detail about the charges, and she transferred to a man who she said would explain things in more detail.

The man stated that I was being charged with malicious intent to defraud a financial institution, and check fraud/forgery. He also mentioned that the company that was pressing the charges might be able to settle it out of court. I would settle it right there on the phone with his department, and he would pass the money to the plaintiffs.

After asking for a callback number so i could confirm that he was legit, he provided the number 844-804-6078. Searching this number i found this page, and mentioned it to him. He then called me a piece of [***] and a loser and hung up.

A friend of mine got a strange Call from this person claiming to be a investigator, I'm a non professional man's voice station I was being charged with check fraud, and said my docket was up for court but to avoid being arrested to call the 844-804-6078, (# 1 error ) I dont wrote checks so that gave it away as a scam , And then he proceeds to say if I do call back with. 24 hours my husband and I would be arrested at home or at work!!(#2 error) I don't work (#3 error) I'm not married,
& (#4error) if by chance I did have a bad check out, I know the police would know where to find me.

THESE SCAMMERS ARE STUPID..

So right away I knew it was a scam !

I have also received a call saying there is a complaint and they will be filing fraud charges against me...shows up as originating from the West Chester Court House
