Wow what a SCAM. My husband got the same call same detail only it was Elizabeth. Trying to collect on a magazine debt I've never had. I pulled my credit it's not there .
    Sending this letter to them-
    1)  I do not believe I owe this debt.
    2)  I do not in any way agree to any type of payment arrangement for this debt as I do not owe it.
    3)  I have requested written verification
    4)  by law the statute of limitations to collect on a debt this old has run out
    5)  Your firm has violated the FDCPA section 804 by telling my wife there was a civil suit against me, section 807 by not giving the mini Miranda (this is an attempt to collect a debt...), and section 809 by refusing to mail verification.

I am revoking any rights to communicate with me in any way other that USPS to my current address:-) and am advising you of my intent to counter sue should you try to maliciously continue with the collection of this false debt.  Again I state for the record that this is not my debt and I owe nothing.
We will see what happens, but should the choose to pursue court, we will counter sue with confidence!

BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies starting business in the Upstate New York area over the past several years. In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with federal and state law, we have asked for specific information from all collection agencies located in our service area, including proof of licensing, bonding, and or registration required by NY state or other governments where the business is located, as well as proof of licensing required by any state in which the business operates. This collection agency has not responded to our requests. BBB advises consumers to be aware of their rights in regard to collections. This includes New York States law prohibiting any collection agency from collecting on Payday loans in the State of New York. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) outlines prohibited behavior when attempting to collect a debt, and outlines specific rights for consumers. There are penalties for agencies found in violation of the Act. BBB advises consumers to become familiar with their rights under the Act, which can be found at ftc.gov. To file a complaint with BBB go to bbb.org/complain.

I've had a few calls from this number claiming I am involved in a civil claim.....both ladies sounded either uneducated or drunk. They claimed to be working for an agency dealing with civil cases.

History of debt scamming by this group.  Pretending to be law firm, pretending to be vaguely connected to law enforcement.  Bad actors.

I just received the same call and I told them I needed to get their information because there is some type of fraud going on.  The lady asked me if I lived at an address in Washington, DC where I suppsedly was receiving these magazines.  I told her that I never resided in Washington, DC and she asked me who would do this to me and do I know a Michelle Harris.  When I told her I did not and to hold on so I can get all of her information she hung up on me.  I called the number back and a voicemail picked up but it wasn't for the person that called me and did not give the name of the supposed law firm that she was calling me from.

SCAMMERS!!!!! I got a phone call from this number for my husband. I called them back and they told me it was a civil case for a magazine subscription. He's never subscribed for a magazine! They knew his birthday and last 4 digits of his social! I told them to lose his info and never contact us again. She told me good luck with that and hung up. I hope they get caught soon!
