Called numerous times, finally answered.  Said it was tech support and wanted to check network security.  Almost fell into it.  Disconnected access immediately, and they hung up on me.  Caller ID# was Steve Johnson with heavy Indian accent.

Steve Johnson called claiming he is a Verizon technician and asked me if I was attempting to change my email password this morning. I told him I did not. - He stated that somebody made several attempts to get into my account and he wanted to check the security of my email account. I was convinced he was attempting to scam me and ask him for his telephone # to make sure the number he had given me was a legitimate Verizon telephone contact. Of course entering the number in the Google Search confirmed it was not.

Thank you Slim for taking the time to post this information, it will be very helpful to everyone who was unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of scammers.  The people from 844-866-3867 are particularly evil.  Bad Karma will prevail.

wants to fix my computer and calls continuously.

Somehow they got my name, email address and phone number.  They called claiming to be from Yahoo and asked if I was the one that attempted to change my password 5 times in the past 10 minutes.  I told them I was not attempting to change my password.  Next they asked for access to my computer to see if there were any security issues.  That's when I hung up.

Sounded like a foreigner who represented himself as an aol employee wanting to fix my computer…..definitely a scam!!!!!!

They called me - They are a scam. Don't let them into your computer.

Received a call from them today.  Esther, badge number VEL405, wanted to know if I had recently made changes to my network.  I called TELUS and asked if they called me.  Nope.  They took the number down and say they are looking into it.  I am in Canada and when I tried to call "Esther" back, I was told the number was not available from my area.

I received calls from two personnel to indicate they work for Spectrum Internet Services. Wanted me to pay money to get network security for my computer; however, I hung up the phone.

8 -10 calls a day, I don't answer. Something has to be done!!!!

Claim they were attempting to update my security  called 4 or 5 times eventually blocked the number caller sounded like he was Indian or middle eastern could barely understand.

They called saying they were yahoo, and that someone  in Moscow was trying to get our sensitive information.
She said they were not trying to get into our computer, but get access to our connection.  She had me go to a place in my computer and type shift R, then showed me foreign addresses, and told me they are already in.  Then said I could block them.  Told me to go to another place and type “config” or something and said look at security status or something.  Told me to push disable, but I couldn’t, and she said “they” have blocked you.  Then told me to turn off our iPads.  At this point I told her to give me her number, and call back later.  The number she gave me brought me here.  I am seeing now it is a scam.  I hope nothing I typed in my computer causes me issues. I did not download anything.  Kerry was super nice, but I am pretty sure it is all a scam.  I hope this helps others.

Called today, Sunday, at about 6:18 pm.  The phone rang 3 times then stopped.  I always let my answering machine get my calls.  I never pick up.  Family and friends, doctors etc. will leave a message.
Scam callers are beyond annoying.  They are criminals looking to scheme money from people!
