- LindaSaid he was from a debt collections company. When I refused to give my card info he got extremely rude and basically threatened me with a lawsuit.
- Call type: Debt collector
- SandraGot a call from this number on a debt I had already settled with a credit card. He said they had no record of the settled debt and that I was going to have to pay or appear in court (giving me 3 days). That is what the last person told me several years ago! I not only think this one is a scam but sadly think I was scammed the first time. $1800 down the drain :( I will go to court this time if it's real or at least wait for legal docs to be 'served' to me and take them to a lawyer to verify authenticity!!
- Call type: Debt collector
- MADThese people were rude and said they were trying to collect on an old debt. Called several family members and told them that they must not love their loved one for refusing to give them info!!!!

- Angry| 5 repliesTheir are popping up on my computer telling me they can help me remove any virus I may have!! They are claiming to be Microsoft which is even worse.
- MAD replies to AngryThey popped up on my son's computer telling him the computer had a virus / spyware and to call thi number immediately to remove the virus. We never called so it ended there.
- Rusty Shackleford| 2 repliesI had the same experience, a pop up on the computer with this number. They are very convincing on the phone that they were really Microsoft and I was surprised to learn ultimately that it was a scam.
- jeffwayne replies to Rusty ShacklefordI clicked on a story from Yahoo home page and got a screen saying my PC was infected with 4 viruses and to call Microsoft at this number. Couldn't get rid of it so I contacted my security company and they cleared it.
- C. A. Kane| 1 replyThis PC "virus removal" scammer keeps calling our house. We want it to stop.
- Caller: Supposedly Microsoft Security Essentials, an MS "certified Live Tech"
- Edna| 1 replyPop up said ad virus and would not be x'd out. Had to turn off computer. Called and got someone with an out of country accent. I could not understand the person.
- g.george replies to AngryGot the same thing at 12:15 pm 04/23/15
- Gary| 3 repliesI mistakenly clicked on a link and immediately received a pop-up screen that locked my computer. It said I had a virus and to call (844) 874-8616. I was skepitical, but called the number. The gentleman I was speaking with had a thick Indian accent. I became evenore skeptical. He wanted access to my computer. When I questioned his authenticity, he assured me that he was MS certified and working for Microsoft. I asked how I could be certain of that and he said that he could email me a link. I almost agreed, but decided to do more research first. Looks like I made the right decision. and decided

--------------------------- - B| 1 replyreceived a pop up on my pc where it stated I had a virus and a system 32 error. Launched task manager to close my browser and that was the end of it. If this pop up comes up for you press ctrl + alt + delete, launch task manager, and close your browser.
- Also POed replies to AngryDitto. Control Alt Delete, Task Manager & then close the window. They will not get away with this.
- john| 1 replyI was not called. Instead my computer screen turned blue with pop up with message saying do not shut down system and to call Microsoft at 1-844-874-8618. This happened after clicking on an e-card page (123greetings.com). Used task manager (press control + Alt + Delete keys at same time to bring up task manager). Click on the Processes tab of the task manager box that appears. Now select the tasks (AKA processes) you want to terminate and then selected "End Task" button which is found on bottom, right side of the task manager pop up box Then update your antivirus definitions to hopefully head off future stupidity. Note: do not waste your time trying to call these folks, it is a scam.
- Glo replies to Gary| 2 repliesI let them access my computer and tell me what was wrong before I got concerned and started asking questions and he was reassuring me they were legit..then he said my computer was seriously affected when I started inquiring even more he put someone else on phone. I was still skeptical and I shut down my computer was I too late. Do you think they were trying to get personal info?
- CWG40 replies to GloYes they were. And it looks like they succeeded. If you had any financial account information on your computer, I'd change out all those accounts. If you paid them by credit card or debit card they now have that information and can use it to access accounts. This is a scam that has been going aroudn for some time. Make sure you have your computer looked at by someone you can trust to check for malware. If you have them, you should run anti-malware and anti virus programs as well.
Take care of the problem now! Before someone tries to clean you out.
Internet security 101: Never give someone you do not personally know, access to your computer. - shloime replies to Angrygoogle "adware removal".
it's annoying and persistent, but you CAN get rid of it. - shloime replies to Rusty Shacklefordthey aren't really microsoft, and you didn't win the Irish sweepstakes, either. but if you let them trick you into logging into their website, your computer is probably infested with one or more pieces of malware.
