These guys have been calling us for OVER A YEAR!  Middle Eastern accent, same man each time.  We call him Mark-Dave because if we ask him his name, he answers "Mark" or "Dave".   He called today and told hubby that Russian hackers had all our info, but they could fix it for $700.  According to my Caller ID, these calls are not coming from 844-880-3396 anymore.  But that's only because they have become smarter and are using new technology to hide behind a real number.  Caller ID shows calls coming from a Seattle number in the (206) area code.  I called the (206) number and reached a voice mail box that was full.  It was obviously an internal corporate extension of a real corporation and it has been overwhelmed by people like me who are calling the number because their caller ID shows the (206) number.  I figured this all out, because I asked the guy to tell me the name of his company.  He wouldn't tell me, and he sputtered around, said he would SHOW me, was going to put it up on our computer screen.  Obviously couldn't remember what name they were using this week!  Finally told me "ViewTech".  I looked it up online, and sure enough, there's a phony website and it has the 844-880-3396 number listed!  That number links back to five separate tech-help companies all at the same Glendale, CA address ... Which is a postal annex!  The website lists a business registration in South Carolina!  When Mark-Dave called back, I told him everything I found out, that I was calling the cops and hung up.  He called 13 times (we didn't answer) and he left several obviously nasty messages on my voicemail in another language.

I just read this ... found it right here on 800notes.com.  Apparently, what I described in my complaint (posted 8 minutes ago, as of the time of this writing) it is called "Spoofing caller ID".  Found it by clicking the link on right side of screen:
…16 Ways you can be Phone Scammed

..."Tracing the calls to the companies is difficult. The calls often come from telemarketing centers located overseas. Also, the companies often spoof their caller ID information to display someone’s else’s real number. When people receive these calls they dial the number they see on Caller ID and leave angry messages for an unsuspecting victim. Two-three days later the telemarketers change the Caller ID number and the scam continues."

An Indian sounding man called and said he was from the computer company I had work on my computer recently. He said people were trying to access my computer to get my information. He asked how many computers I have and wanted me to sit down in front of my computer and log in, go to access page. It came up for me to grant them remote access. I made some excuse to get off and asked for a number to call them back. He said his name is Ted Christian with Superior Tax Help. Something just didn't sound right to me . I looked up the number and ended up here. I will look up my paperwork on the people who did work on my computer and call them. They have called 2 more times from the same number in the last 10 minutes.

Addition to the above message. I spoke with the legitimate company who worked on my computer. It is a scam. There is no way anyone can tell if your computer is being invaded by computer viruses by phone. They called from 1 624-518-6234 and gave me a number to call them back. That number is 1 844-880-3396. His name is Ted Christian.

    Fight back against SCAMMERS!
Filed a report on the Do Not Call List. The caller ID showed the call coming from 208-545-5520.  Man with a heavy middle eastern accent sounds like he is calling from a busy call center from the background noise, tells me in a urgent voice there is a problem with our computers.  It is a complete SCAM.  The call back number I get from him is 844-880-3396.

Keeps calling asking for someone else, no matter how many times I tell them they have the wrong number. If I play along, they want access to my computer and tell me I have a virus. They tell me that I hired them 2 years ago.

I fell for the scam last Friday because of a pop-up on my screen.  After I gave them info and hung up I realized I was suckered.   They will tell you they are from Apple.  I called Apple support and they reversed the processed and eliminated. I did get this company to cancel the charge to my card after a nice threat.  I cancelled card on Friday, talked to the card company this afternoon and it was taken off my card.  Went to bank to check on security.  What a mess.

Same thing happened to me mid April 2017. Pop up paid for service to fix computer. They've  been calling me ever since. Says his name is Shawn. They sound Indian/Pakistani. They claim they see hackers attacking computer and  want to fix. Calling from this number AND 844-880-3699 the call center sounds busy. They also claim their company name is tool fix that's who debited my card. When I called the number my card debited to a Caucasian man answered. Called today the number is dead doesn't even ring.  Keep clear it's a SCAM to gain remote access to computer.

This quite literally just happened to me. Same call description as above but claiming to be Time Warner Cable. Indian/Pakistani accented man. Was really trying not to stereotype by the accent that it was a scam but that's how I got duped. Identified himself as Neal Roy at extension 441. They completely locked me out of my computer and claimed that I had been hacked. I gave them access to my computer and they "fixed" it. Once I processed the charge I realized how stupid I had been. Tried to call back and threaten as someone above did to get them to return the money and got berated for being a scam artist myself trying to get back my money after they provided me a service! Unbelievable. I feel like a moron but posting this here to hopefully help keep others from getting scammed. Hopefully I can get my money back.
