Received a threatening voicemail with a script that was a bit off. I dialed the number they asked me to call (different from incoming number) with my number blocked and surprise, they did not answer. I would ignore their baseless threats and block them, that's what I did.

Called from 901-730-7820 left message saying there is a complaint against me and that I needed to immediately contact 844-880-5802 or they would contact hr. Sounds like they’re threatening to call my job.

Called and said she was Stephanie Knapp and threatened to call my HR or payroll department, but never said 1) what i had done wrong or 2) which company she was calling from but she demanded that I call her employer back at this number. Definitely a scam.

received a vm from Stephanie Knapp saying they needed to speak to me and this would be the last call...the next call would be to my HR department.  So for giggles...I called back and some guy answered "Legal Department...hold please"....so I hung up and redialed, this time from a blocked number and all I got was a busy signal....seems like a scam

I also received the call from Stephanie Knapp with the same script as is being stated by others. A few years back I got a call saying the same thing but a different name was used.

I got the same prerecorded message from Stephanie Knapp. I will call back and see what they want. This should be fun.

Called my wife's father and said there was a civil complaint. Call Mr Right at the number above ^^^. Mr Right?! LOL

I got the exact same message

I just called back and talked to a man on this number off the same message from Stephanie Knapp. I was on hold for about two minutes when he picked back up. He said they were a mitigation and litigation firm and their name is Capital RC and they are headquartered in Los Angeles. He tried to verify my last name and my address. He had my previously married name from seven years ago and an address from fourteen years ago and my current one. He pushed really hard to get me to verify the address. I refused. I said I will write them instead and asked him to provide me a physical address. He refused. I said I know my rights and said per the FTC, he has to provide me one. He said this wasn't debt collections and kept saying they wanted to serve me papers in reference to a civil matter. I'm a goodie two shoes, there would be no civil matter that I'm involved in, and if there was, I'd know about it. And I wasn't making reference to the FDCP. Totally different. But here's the thing. I'm an expert former debt collector, I know for a bonafide fact that if someone asks for our contact information, I HAVE to provide it. And all they have to do is fully identify their first and last name. Which I did. And besides, I've talked to thousands of law firms and professional environments, they are just that, PROFESSIONAL. Polite, kind, courteous and always compliant. So are we. Long story short, this is a scam. Because sadly, if there WAS an industry that used this threatening type behaviors, it would be collections agency, not a law firm UNLESS it involved collections. Which as far as I know, no one does this anymore. No need to be so nasty and threatening in regards to civil matters. Sorry for the long post, but it looked like no one has actually talked to anyone yet.

Just FYI, you can't block your number when calling a toll-free number.

You forgot the very important fact that you aren't warned in advance if you're going to be served.

Received a call by Stephanie Knapp on voicemail.  She threatened to call a HR Dept and report this info which I don't have since being medically retired and my number is not to be solicited period.  This person is calling to scam my address and phone info.  I never called back but rather checked out the 844-880-5802 number she was leaving on the voicemail.  The number that actually called in was Name:  Margaret Anders at 251-626-4166

If you get this same call, please not only report it here for others to be aware but also, to report this scam to the FBI since they keep up and follow up with consistent scam calls.  FBI.org

What does "my number is not to be solicited period" mean? And why do you think scammers care anyhow?
