I just got 5 missed calls from this number, as well as a message saying I was getting a complaint filed against me and if I wanted to clear my name
I had to call back in 48 hours. I have received nothing in the mail about any complaint against me, so I am guessing this is a fake scam to get me on the phone for something. The disconcerting thing is that this isn't a Robo call, it's a real person calling who does sound "official"...I would say if scams are like this we all better watch out.

Got a call saying they were a 3rd party company getting in touch with me to call a firm that had legal documents pertaining to me. When I mentioned that if they had legal documents that they could go through the courts to get my address to deliver to me, she laughed a little and said Oh well it may be pre-litigation. I owe no money and have no lawsuits. This reeks of a scam. Do not give them any info!

Received a "Private Number" call which went to voicemail asking for my ex-wife, whom I've been divorced from since 1986. Called the # in the message and referred to the case number that had been given. It's a phantom cover for an outfit named Dynamic Recovery Solutions, they told me I was on a list of contacts for the subject of the call. When I informed them that my ex-wife was deceased since August of last year they started fishing for validation of the other contacts on the list.
I was told there were important papers needing to be signed by either my ex-wife or someone representing her estate. If she's dead how can she sign?

This guy says he is Russell "Scrin" and that there's a complaint filed against the person he calls. The law firm will proceed in the "case" with no consent from me if I dont call back. Left 844-882-9023 number. He does sound official. So that confuses the victims of this scam. Do not call back or give any personal information.
Where should I call to report this?

    In any event,

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

I got a call from a "restricted" number this morning.  Did not answer - they left a voice mail message.  The call was from a Jacob Hall looking for a Jerry Bowers, aka Jerry Reynolds, about a complaint that had been filed against him.  Well, my name is not Jerry Bowers or Jerry Reynolds, or ANYTHING remotely resembling those names!  The number the caller left for Jerry Bowers/Reynolds to call back was 844-882-9023.

Received a call from an UNKNOWN number, they left a message.  The message is from a lady named Chloe, speaking English with a foreign accent, saying a complaint may be filed against me.  She advised to contact the firm and take control of the matter at 844-882-9023.  If no contact is made this will be pursued without my consent, and that I have been notified.  (I have the transcribed voicemail on my phone.)  If someone has a problem/complaint against me, then they should go through a lawyer and have official legal documents served.  I will not be responding to this.  If, this is a LAW FIRM, they should have stated the firm name and the attorney they are calling on behalf of.  If this is a DEBT COLLECTOR, then they should know the spill that has to prelude any information given.

This is a scam.  They called me and I told Elvis ***** that there was a claim against him for a environment issue to call back.  This guy gave both a name, number, and case number.  Elvis (who raised me) and I have not talked for several years and this has been my number before we quit talking.  So you don't call this number.

Do not fall for this!! They are scammers. These people called me and tell me that I have urgent documents that are time sensitive. That they have tried to deliver them to my house and no one was home. But there is always someone at my house. I work in the legal system and the law enforcement system. There are legal ways to pursue. This is not even remotely close to this. If they want to fool someone then they are barking up the wrong tree. They have even gone so far as to contact my friends and family and leave the same message on their voicemails to try and get information and scare me into calling them. They have all been made well aware. Make as much of your facebook as private as you can. Everything that he quoted to me, he got off of there. The only thing I had listed was my place of business (no number, just where I worked). That is now blocked as well. I have also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and am going to have the lawyer that I work for check into it as well.

I just received a call from a private number, who indicated they were A-1 Courier Services. I was advised by the man on the telephone to contact 884-882-9023 and reference a file number, in reference to a package attempting to be delivered to my disabled mother (who lives 500 miles away from me). I asked how he obtained my telephone number, and he said that it was "written on the outside of the file," and assumed my mother had used me as a reference. I contacted the telephone number be provided and spoke with "Ryan Wells" with Ashford Council Partners. After providing the file number, he began to recite some canned information and indicated he was looking for my disabled mother, to send her some information to "resolve a debt outside of court." They were quickly and promptly advised that they had contacted her daughter's (my) personal cellular number, were advised that they were believed to be a scam and less than politely advised not to call myself or my parents again.

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general
