My phone rang, with # Unknown, so I let it go to voicemail.  A woman left me a vm saying:
"This message is intended for Ann S_______.    We have some time sensitive documents being sent to our clerk's office.  Contact number is 844-883-3611 ext.94066.  If there's no call back we will deem the address and employment as verified.  Thank you. "  *Click*

What clerk's office?  Address & employment as verified?  WT??

Almost called them back.  But after reading everyone's comments, I think I made the right choice to not call back.

They have been calling different family members saying they have court documents gave a case # from some unpaid furniture bill back from 2010. Said this furniture which is no longer in business sent information to an old address to settle the unpaid amount on my bill. They said the court documents would be delivered to my place of work today. When you call they say switchboard operator then when you call again they say legal department. When speaking to this lady she said she was a paralegal.

Same; received a call asking for a family member saying they were trying to reach regarding legal documents.  So, is this a bill collector or what?

I called them back...  They say they are an operating service for 10 large businesses.  I asked him about it being a scam..  He got upset and kept asking for my social security number and case number.  THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM!!

So this is not a SCAM! If you get this call they are trying to serve you with papers to go to court over a debt. Do not ignore. I called and was able to avoid court by paying half my bill. And half at a later date.

These people called my job, my family, etc.... Not sure how they even got the information. Here's what I did! Know your rights.

I tried to get as much information as I could until the lady (Melissa) because totally irate. This is a sure sign of fraud. They violated our rights by leaving detailed information with family and friends. I explained to the lady that if charges are filed (civil there is no credit jail unless your Madoff) then just serve the papers and I will respond to the court with an attorney if not, they are not to stalker call you, harass you at work or home, or threaten you.

I filed charges against this company with the attorney generals office and the ftc. I also called the attorney generals office and they are expediting my claim because of the threatening and fraudulent nature.

They claimed they are from FRMCG or something like that but they can't give an address or actual name of the company. this is fraud people. You have a right to know who your creditor is and their business address for communication.

How can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:

The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.

The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.

The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.

The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.

Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:

If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.

Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.

mad about scams you explained it perfectly.  I just got a call from an Ann Davis, who started stumbling about the company and address of her "law offices".  Others have been calling family members and what not.  If anyone is going to serve papers, THEY WILL DO SO WITHOUT NOTICE and you will be subjected to court.  This is 100% scam and trying to scare you into wire them money so they won't "serve you papers"...

Someone called me from a private number looking for me. I said this is she, but they used my maiden name. I told them u no longer go by that last name. I didn't tell them my last name though. Them they said I owed a debt to a first bank in Bexar county. This sent it's from 06 mind you. Like I stated to this person I lived in Rockport in 06 and had a different bank. They really wouldn't give me any other info. They did have my family's first names, my husbands names and every address I lived at. The lady from the private number stated they are going to serve me papers at my moms house. And whom ever signs for them has to show up with me in court. Wth? It don't work like that they have to give the papers directly to me. Don't these people know this crap. Especially if they say who they say they are. How stupid are they. I wish scammers would stop their stupidness and get their own jobs instead of ripping people off.

An actual Process Server is not going to have any conversation with you about any debt you owe, nor will they demand payment from you. If something like this happens, immediately call local law enforcement and make a full report including as much descriptive information as you can give them of the person impersonating a court officer.

I called the 1-844-883-3611 number again a lady answered started she was the operator. When I asked for what company, she said they work for 10 different companies. Once again they would give me info. She just sent me around in circles.

Typical comment from a bottom feeding debt collector - hiding below the radar!!  Any  information could lead to someone actually finding  them - something they do not want to happen!
