I do not know the name of the company, but they are yet another schlock collections outfit specializing in medical bills. Hahahaha....just send my bill to 1600 Pensylvania Ave., Washington, DC 20202 Attn: Barack Oh..baaa...ma.

Yes, collections for Medical bills. Sorry, sick and can't work, so I can not pay you what the insurance company would not cover! Already paid $6,000 out of pocket, so you will not receive anymore $$$$$.- Caller: MEDICAL COLLECTIONS

- SharlaMedical collection agency, and I know I do owe money to several doctors and a hospital for a recent, serious stay. I have had 2 billing problems with two of the doctors due to having Blue Cross and also Medicare, and they billed BC but not Medicare, so it looks like I owe them a lot of money yet but I will owe less when they submit the remaining bill to Medicare. The other doctor didn't even submit the bill correctly to Blue Cross; I have been calling them and so has Blue Cross because the idiot office gilr or whoever coded it wrong, so Blue Cross at first wouldn't pay anything at all (on a $9,000 bill). It is the doctor's fault. I'm still trying to get it ironed out and so is BC, meanwhile the doctor sent it to collections. These people are calling me at least 9 times a day starting at 8:30 am and ending at 10:15 pm. The caller ID merely says " ." (a period). I don't care if I 100% owed money and 100% should pay (and I would) - I am not answering a phone or doing business with a company that can't put it's correct name on an ID and also leaves another number entirely as a call back number. I actually went through this with this company about 2 years ago over a $10.47 bill and the calls got so bad I reported them. I don't understand why doctors or anyone who legitimately wants to collect money uses these companies that come off as so dishonest and shifty. Does anyone ever actually give them their personal info, credit card numbers, bank info and pay through them?

- Ms. Tired Ofmedbills| 1 replyGot a message from Karen, medical recovery specialist LLC to call 847-227-2135 about a debt. Just ignored it. We do have never ending med bills but we deal with the provider directly. Using Medical Recovery Specialist LLC sounds convincing though! BEWARE! Did not waste my time to call back the number provided.

- WolfmanJack replies to Ms. Tired OfmedbillsIt is incumbent upon them to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it. Not the other way around.
This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
